Is cosmetic surgery or lose skin pretty much going to happen?

Recommended Posts

I know it's based of many factors but I'm super worried about this. I have 100+ lbs to lose and I'm so scared of the possibility of lose skin! (not enough to scare me away from getting banded though) I mean I'm young so I have that on my side at least but MOST of the women I look at who have lost with a band and I see them and say "wow that's amazing!" have also had cosmetic surgery... I don't really want/ or can afford cosmetic surgery. I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself and that everyone is different but it seems all these women have had it!

I think that some of it has to do with our age. I'm in my 40's and I'm losing weight once it's all said and done I hope to lose 100+ and I know that my skin no matter how tight and toned I try to be is going to be a bit saggy. I've had 3 children and at 50 pounds gone I can already feel that apron hanging down where it's bugging me.

So I know that when I am done with my journey I will go in for a nip and a tuck to feel good. Not just to look good but to know nothing is rubbing and chaffing me the looking good part is a double bonus :)

No one can afford plastic surgery but I'm saving my pennies now for that day. As you start losing since your a youngin...tone as you go if you can. Keep your skin moisturized (this is good to do always anyway) and you may be luck to not need to do anything after!! I have seen some girls even in their early 30's who lost 100+ and did not need any cosmetic surgery after, so it is possible!

As young as you are if you exercise regularly and lose slowly as recommended (1-2 lbs per week). You may not need the cosmetic surgery. I have met people who have lost 100+ lbs both who have had the cosmetic surgery and who hasn't and the younger you are and the more you exercise as you lose, the better your chances of it tightening up as you go...

I do think some loose skin in inevitable. Just make sure you exercise regularly from the beginning. I have been terrible with exercise, and have the sagging skin to prove it. Ick! I will not be having cosmetic surgery, so I'll either have to get my butt in gear and try to tone some of this up, or just learn to deal with it!

I went from 200 to 145 two years ago and did not even notice any saggy skin and I was 42 at the time. It depends on how much you have to lose, how long you have been overweight, your age, etc.

Of course, I gained it all back plus, hence why I am banded today :D !

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
