I am 2 years post op. I've lost 100 lbs but recently(during the holidays) gained back 10 lbs. I am very afraid of gaining back the weight. I'm not really feeling the band and can eat almost anything. Once in awhile, if I eat bread too fast, I get that "full" feeling but that's it. After 2 years, is it possible that I need another fill? Does your stomach change over time so that you need the band adjusted again?

contact your surgeon for a fill. yes our bodies do change and you may need just a little fill to help you continue on your wt loss journey. drink Water before leaving your doctor's office to be sure you can retain fluids. good luck to you i'm wishing you well

Lapbands are adjustable, and that is a wonderful thing. As you lose weight, the fat pad around your stomach (inside) reduces, rendering the band a bit looser. So what you are feeling may be tied to your weight loss, and yes, you may need just a bit more restriction to keep you on the straight and narrow. It would certainly be worth getting checked. And well done on your impressive weight loss!

All depends upon what you have had before....there are people who, after 2 years may never had a fill...and now find it's time...

There is a scale that tips between what an individual can do from determination and motivation, and the other end is what the band actually does on it's own...id one's self discipline starts to break down, no matter what the time frame, then the band needs to do more....

I do not like people comparing fills, etc...but I have been banded 2 years...I CANNOT eat bread at all...however I am never hungry, or experience uncontrollable cravings....I've also never felt full from eating anything.....for me, that is all band doing the work...otherwise I would have those feelings and would be avoiding them through my own discipline....

I have not had a fill in 2-12 years...but I probably had more within those first 6 months than you probably have...

I happen to have NO Discipline...so I need the band - pouch to control how much I eat, limit my food intake and prevent me from overeating......which it has, and is doing just fine, for me...but then that is why the band is adjustable.

Anyone who is over 2 years post op, and can 'suddenly' eat too much should see their surgeon, it is recommended everyone who has a band to get a yearly fluoroscopy or Upper Gi to check the band....

It could be you need a fill, it also could be erosion, pouch dilation or leak.

You might need a fill, when was your last? I have follow ups with my surgeon's offce several times a year. Have you had a visit recently? Best wishes, Karen..aka..kll724

this is an excellent visual tool!!!

I too have sometimes gone "2 years" without any fill/adjustment, then discovered such was necessary.

If I had experienced what you just reported, I would certainly talk to my Band doc.

Thank you to everyone that sent me suggestions! I am very thankful that I found this app, after receiving a suggestion at a bariatric support group meeting. For 2 years, I felt like I was wading through this experience by myself. The suggestions confirmed what I already knew- time for a visit to the surgeon and an adjustment. I especially liked the comment that at some point determination and control wears down, and that's when it's time to step up the band. it has certainly been a journey I could have never predicted!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
