I read a lot on hear about how people at any stage of the their WLS, pre op, post op, new starters, veterans, that the food can get boring.

So I thought it might be nice to share some WLS appropriate recipes on here.

Let's get started.

I have one recipe that i'm obsessed with. It is the staple of my diet :) I am near goal now so I've added a little more natural sugars and fats to my diet but you could cut the papaya and avocado in half if you wanted.

ABOUT….

2 pounds of raw deveined shrimp

Cup of Lime juice

¼ lemon juice

2 mango’s ripe but still fairly firm

2 avocados

½ cup Sam’s club Italian Rose Fresh Salsa with cilantro

A handful of cilantro

½ small purple onion finely chopped

Cut everything in to small bite size pieces.

Start with the raw shrimp, add the lime and lemon juice over it until it is completely covered. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Let it marinade overnight. (I just continue to add ingredients until they are well coated in the lime juice but it isn’t a Soup.)

I don’t, but you could drain any excess juice in the morning so that it isn’t quite as tangy if you wanted.

The lime juice cures the shrimp so it is “cooked”.

It is kind of a Ceviche. I made this recipe up, but there are a ton of variations, most of them use quite a bit more raw sea food. I love mine with just shrimp though... It is very fresh and tangy :).

There is a whole forum for this kind of thing. You will find heaps of great info there. It is in the middle of being reorganized, so make sure you use the search function as well as browsing. :)http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1048-food-and-nutrition/

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
