I'm wondering the same thing. Hope someone will chime in and give us a answer. Financially I cant afford much more time than 2 weeks. I just pray my body will agree with my bank account! :P

I went back 9 days later. Too soon. It's been rough and really slowed my recovery.

I'm scheduled to go back this coming Monday (my surgery was 12/30). I think I can do it, but am worried about being worn out at the end of the day.

I will be going back Monday, after 13 days. My job is a combination of sitting, walking, and standing (no lifting).

I hope it goes well - I told them I will only work 8 hours/day for the first two wks (vs. the usual 12 or more). I'm going to try hard to stick to that.

I took 2 weeks off. Was just right for me. Everyone is different though.

I do have a desk job but am running around the office a lot!

Was back to working 50-60 hour weeks right away:(

Probably could have gone back after 10-12 days but glad I had the full 2 weeks.

Was taking afternoon naps right up until I went back.

Good luck with your journey!

My surgery was December 26th. I worked a half week this week. I could have probably worked all week and not thought twice about it. I go back full time on Monday (13th). However, I am not allowed to travel for my job until the first week of February.

Went back 1/2 days after 1 week and back to full time at two weeks. I'm a vet tech, so pretty active job. I felt fine, but had to limit myself because I wasn't supposed to lift more than 20 pounds. (I only cheated once with a 50 pound dog 3 days before my weight limitation was up). I felt so good I would truly have gone crazy if I had to sit around at home any longer.

I went to work the same day I discharged from the hospital. I was able to work 3rd shift the first 2 days and resumed my regular 2nd shift at 5 days post op. If I could have, I would have taken 2 weeks off but I couldn't. Luckily everything turned out good, great recovery. I was very exhausted though. I was sleeved on 12/12/13 and discharged and back to work on 12/14/13.

I took 4 weeks off. The doctors stressed that I shouldn't rush back. I had the PS time, so why not? Not only am I focusing on healing physically, but I'm growing with my sleeve emotionally and mentally. I'm also adjusting to eating and drinking differently.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
