Recommended Posts

Had my sleep apnea study done last night and it was TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!! I just hope I don't have to redo it because I don't know what I will do???? I couldn't sleep for nothing!!! To many wires very uncomfortable! Plus I couldn't never sleep in strange place or new places!!???? Plus knowing that somebody is watching you it's awful!! ????

I was able to have a home study. Still lots of wires, but at least it was in my own bed.

Most if the time when people say they didn't sleep still sleep enough to give an accurate result. The doctor needs to see at least 2 hours of sleep, when you sleep 8 hours typically, 2 hours doesn't seem like you slept at all. Hopefully you do not need to retake it, if you do ask about a home unit. Although it doesnt give the complete picture like a lab test, you can usually tell if you have sleep apnea or not.

Thanks for the advice!! But I'm hoping I don't have to retake! Plus they gave me a paper telling me that it will take a month to get the results?? But I don't think I was asleep at all! Because I was kind of asleep but my mind was still going a million miles per hour!! So will see! The tech guy was super nice!! Do you think if I have to do it again if I take something to help me sleep will be ok???

I also hated taking this test. The tech was great and the room and bed were nice and comfy but honestly so uncomfortable. Every time I moved something detached and the tech would come in and reattach. Turned out I had severe sleep apnea then I had to go back and have the test again wearing the mask so they could see what level the machine had to be set to. Two nights of missed sleep I,ll never get back. Now that i am almost to goal I think the sleep apnea is resolved but I am not goint back a third night to see.

My whole study experience was hell too! I did an at home study which wasn't so bad. It showed I had moderate apnea. So then I had to do an in lab study with the Cpap machine so they would know what to set it on. I literally did not sleep at all!! I was there from 8 pm to 5 am and didn't sleep. The bed was gurney sized and hard. There were two cameras an a speaker pointed at me. The glue for all those leads made me itchy and never mind sleeping with the mask on my face. Oh it was also as hot as he'll in there. I took two ambien and a Xanax and still nothing. I went to my sleep doc apmt and begged for the apap. They ordered it for me and picked it up on Tuuesday. I started using it Wed night. I'm adjusting to it now. I do sleep a bit but end up taking it off 1/2 way through the night

I can't stop thinking about that horrible night!! But I'm worry that I didn't get a good test and that will make my process of getting approve even longer! ????

I guess I was lucky when I had my test. They had brand new rooms, so it was like a cross between a hotel and hospital room. I was exhausted so I fell asleep right away, even with all those wires on. lol Honestly, I got more sleep that night because there was no snoring husband and no little kids coming in my room waking me up. When I got there the tech said that she would come in to put on the machine if she noticed that I wasn't breathing enough. I remember her coming in...me thinking that she was setting up the machine in the middle of the night. Nope, it was morning and time to get up. LOL I was so afraid that I was going to wake up and have to go to the bathroom. But I didn't even do that.
Hopefully not everyone has such a horrible time with this test! I'm sorry that some of you had such bad experiences!! That stinks. :(

I had an allergic reaction to the "hypoallergenic" glue. Apparently it only affects like 1% of the population. Not to mention I had food posioning - they should have sent me home. I had HORRIBLE, embarrassing gas. It was so loud I kept waking myself up. Lol. Worst. Night. Ever!

I'm allergic to most adhesives and I also had one. It wasn't so bad where people couldn't see it, but on my face were those red itchy blotches from where they stick those sensor things. Awful.

Sassy in pink, they did let me take my ambien for the sleep study. I knew I wouldn't fall asleep without it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
