Stuck on whats actually pureed

Ok so I know mashed potatoes, retried Beans hummus, yogurt, pudding, puréed Soups is considered puréed. I start puréed Saturday and I want to go grocery shopping for a few things but I don't know what to buy. What did everyone eat during there puréed stage? Is this all what we could eat my nuts list didn't specify. Thank in advance =)

I made mashed sweet potatoes with unflavored Protein powder. I would suggest adding Protein Powder to anything like mashed potatoes, which have no Protein naturally. I pureed meat a couple of times with some beef or chicken broth, which worked fine. I also ate Greek yogurt & made pudding with Protein Powder added to it.

I consider mashed potatoes, refried Beans, yogurt to be soft foods not pureed.

I never had a pureed stage. I had liquids, full liquids which during this phase I had to puree any Soups I ate except for broth and then soft foods which included tuna, cottage cheese, greek yogurt w/o fruit, cheese.< /p>

Yogurt and fat free refried Beans were allowed on my puree stage.

Here are some other things that were on my approved list:

blended bean Soup

puree chicken (blend w/ chicken stock)

pureed broccoli (cook the broccoli well before you puree and only use the tops)

pureed cauliflower (again, well cooked, then puree)

Greek yogurt - it cannot have chucks or fruit on the bottom. I used the Chobani blended yogurt.

pureed Cottage cheese (I added sugar free Torani raspberry syrup)

soft scrambled egg (adding a splash of 1% milk and whipping w/ a fork before cooking will make them soft)

I love cottage cheese alone and with fruit (I know fruit is not allowed yet) but I bet with sf torani Syrup would taste pretty good. Thanks for all these ideas.

I like sweet potatoes but I've never had them mashed potato style I'm going to try it. Thank you!!

Torani sugar free syrups are a life saver. DaVinci also makes some great flavors. They saved me during the pre and post op liquid phase. I still use them today in recipes. chocolate shake or pudding with some caramel flavor and some PB2 can't be beat. They also have a sf Peanut Butter flavor.

pumpkin was great with vanilla pudding. Adding these flavors to plain or vanilla greek yogurt increases your variety of food choices.

I didn't have a purée stage so to speak, but seeing others posts it looks like mine is a combo between purée and mushies...I went from full liquids(cream Soups, thinned yogurt, pudding, Jello, broth etc) to mushies(mashed pots, soft veggies steamed well, avocado, refried Beans, hummus, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, any meats puréed and even meatloaf or meatballs) basically my nut said anything already mushy or capable of being chewed to a mush consistency in your mouth, her first example was meatloaf, and I've done awesome on it! I'm on this stage for 6 weeks and have two left before I can have anything, so long as I tolerate it! My fav on this stage has been something I grew up with and it feels perfect in my sleeve. I hard boil some eggs at the beginning of the week(my dad made them soft I prefer hard boiled) peel one, chop up finely in a coffee mug with a pat(or two) of butter and micro for 45 seconds. Salt & Pepper YUM! Makes it like a egg salad consistency but warm and filling!

Right after surgery, the thought of having another shake made me want to run myself over with my own car. They are necessary, so you have to do what you can to make them more palatable.

I agree with ribearty above...PB2 is awesome in the vanilla and chocolate shakes. I used sugar free lemon pudding mix (about 1 tablespoon) in a vanilla shake - it was good. I also tried sugar free pistachio pudding mix in the vanilla - delicious and refreshing.

You just have to experiment and if you find something you like, write it down so you can go back to it again later.

Please post recipes you find to the forum under recipes and pre op diets so others can also try them. Everyone loves new recipe ideas especially pre-op and in the liquid and puree stages since it is rather limited.

I love the bananas but on my mushy/purée stage I can eat a regular banana lol! I still have some baby food bananas here and there ;)

My guilty pleasure was spaghetti and meatballs. Nothing on my plan said that I should not have tomatoes, so I took a chance and ate some with ricotta cheese and a sprinkle of parmesan. When I get to soft foods, I will make some the regular way and mush it up.

I agree with CrissyRing77 about bananas. The baby food bananas tasted like rotten bananas. When I go back to fresh, I will have to be very careful. Bananas are a slider food for me. I could eat 6 a day pre-op.

Be careful with bananas - they have a high glycemic value. When I eat foods high on the glycemic scale, it makes me want to eat more.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
