Slip or stuck

Recommended Posts

I'm 13 months post band. Overall doing very well. I had a small fill about a month ago and I have had a few vomiting episodes - most likely my own fault for eating too fast or too much. Tonight I went out for steak dinner - ate about 4 oz and tried to chew very well. I had a piece stuck which I eventually vomited. That was about an hour ago, but I'm still throwing up the clear stuff. dinner was 3 hours ago. Anything I can do? Did my band slip?

It sort of sounds like your still stuck. Sometimes I think part of the piece that stuck goes down while theres still partially some there....The last time i had a bad stuck I drank a pop and it went down. I dont drink pop ever but I was desperate and someone told me once that it helped expand due to the fizz. I figured anything was worth a shot.

Good luck to you,

Brittany

If you have additional questions I would call your surgeons office....

Slip? No. Not from what you've told us. There are many more serious symptoms to a slip.

If you can drink liquids and feel them emptying into your lower stomach, you're no longer stuck. If not, you're still stuck. Red meat can take 4-6 hours to digest in your pouch.

Thanks guys, I'm in the clear! I'm staying away from steak!

I had to shred meat or cut it in small little cubes to pass. And the couple of 3 times I've been stuck I jumped up and down several jumps, like a plunger effect that you use in a clogged bathroom. If you are stuck you dont add more stuff in the pouch. If I'm out in public I go to restroom\, lock the door and jump up and down. The relief will be in 5 minutes or less. You can feel it with less pressure. meat and some hard steamed veggies witll do a good "stuck" job on me.

Happy New Year!

I do not eat steak! I, also, trie dit once thinking that I could chew it okay. I ended up in the rest room. Steak is NOT my friend! Glad that you are feeling better, next time try some coke. It works like Roto-rooter, also, pineapple juice, helps to keep both around, just akes an ounce or two for the problem to clear. Happy New year, Karen..aka..kll724

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
