Hey I got my sleeve 16 months ago and lost 140 pounds I was 380 and now ima down to 240 ish but I'm actually getting converted to the bypass due too really bad acid reflex but also it can boost up me weight losing becuz eventual after 18 the weight loss stops or slow downs .. But I think the bypass will help you lose maybe alil more then the sleeve but they both work great so just make sure you get the one you really want!

I considered the duodenal switch gastric bypass but I was too afraid of re-routing everything. In the past I haven't had the best luck healing from surgeries and I was so afraid to re-route. I have been back and forth though between bypass and the sleeve. I want the most success possible from either surgery. I know most of the battle is making good choices, staying motivated, and following the diet. So I hope that even with the sleeve I can achieve my goal if I am determined. Congrats on your weight loss and I hope your revision to bypass goes great!!!!

Thank you! And yes the rerouting I believe is not a big deal to be overly concerned due to the fact that the surgeons explain everything and the only thing that differs from both is that the bypass you can develop the dumping syndrome witch is like rare , unless you do something outta the ordinary ... But yeah maybe you should see your surgeon again and ask for their opinion ... It always seems too help !!! But goodluck

My current weight is 380 or so and I want to get below 200. Is that feasible with the VSG?

Have you watched LessofSarah on YouTube? Similar starting stats -- in fact, I think she was higher to begin with -- and she's lost a whole bunch with the sleeve. She looks amazing!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
