Lap Band Revision To A Sleeve - Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I had lap band surgery performed 5 years ago which prolapsed. I'm having a revision to a sleeve . Does anyone have any experience with this , success/complications ?

I am four weeks out from having a revision. I had my lapband placed in 2005 and it was slipped and I had an infection around where the band was. Since the revision, I've lost 38 pounds.....

I got my band in Oct 07. Had 2 port replacements, and finally a slip. In April 2013 I had the band out. Had to wait for the inflammation to settle, and in July started working on my insurance requirements to get a sleeve. I got my sleeve 12/9/13, I absolutely love it. Everything I hated about the band....not being able to swallow pills, slimeing, not being able to eat rice.... Not limitations with the sleeve. Mindful eating, chew throughly, pay attention, don't drink and eat within a 1/2 hour of each other. I adore my sleeve and anticipate being quite successful with it. The band was a problem from the start. Glad it's gone.

Hearing success stories of lap band to sleeve revisions are making feel great . My surgery is scheduled for 12 hours from now and I will sleep better, thank you both.

Ten minutes till they wheel me into surgery. Then two hours in surgery, two hours recovery and hopefully a private room.

Good luck!!!

I had my band Sept.'07, then the port flipped so another surgery a few months later, then a leaky port and constant pain so I decided to do the sleeve. Today I am 20 days post-op and feel great.

Yes,

I had the band placed in 2005, lost 80 pounds and had it removed in 2010 due to band slippage and erosion. I was sleeved on 11/20/13 and doing very well...only after I gained 60+ pounds after band removal...

I'm a revision gal. Banded in Mar of '07, revised in May 2013. BEST decision I've made. I'm down 52 lbs and am in a size I've not seen in 30 yrs. I feel like my revision results are what I hoped for when I chose the lapband. I will say that I think the thing that has had the most impact on my results for me is the change I had made by having the band. Completing the lifestyle change hasn't been as difficult as I was expecting. I still have some struggles, but the 'grieving' of food hasn't been as bad I thought it would be because of the many changes made by having the band. Best of luck to all of those revisionists. Work the plan, love the plan, BE the plan.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
