I'm super nervous and doubting this surgery. The more I read about what can go wrong and some of the problems other people have had, I'm terrified!

any surgery can have complications..even a pedicure....

but of course it seems on the neg aspects are out there....

def read on this forum success stories.....there are A LOT

if you follow your doctors instructions (for any WLS), you

may see everything is just fine..

what if nothing goes wrong?

what if you get healthy and live longer??

yep, that is what i'd focus on...

Nothing worth having is easy. Sometimes you hear a lot of negatives online because people get on here to vent. Don't let them scare you off from making a great decision about your life. It's worth it.

I am newly banded....3 mos out and my best piece of advice is to ask your doctor every and any question you have no matter how ridiculous or silly you may think it is.

You will find all kinds of views here on getting banded....good, bad, ugly and very successful. I ran screaming from here several times changing my mind because of what I read.

I did my research, asked all my questions, founds some wonderful new friends here for support and have been so happy and successful with my decision. food no longer rules my life...I can eat everything I want with NO deprivation and havent needed a fill yet either.

Its a whole new world for me when it comes to food and it is invigorating and liberating!

Wishing you all the success you deserve...keep us posted and hang in there!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
