I am 38 years old and I have struggled all my life with my weight. My heaviest @ 292 in 2001. I have tried every diet out there and yes it worked, but always gained it right back plus more. My goal with WLS is to maintain my weight loss and be as healthy as I can be for myself. I have had a lot of tough obstacles in my life that I have learned to cope with. The death of my father in 2011 was one of the worst ones, I remember I was doing weight watchers and then that went down the hill after dad passed away. I weighed in at 227 after his passing.

My second worst starting at the age of 30, not able to conceive, and experience the gift god provides us women to carry our own children. After struggling with PCOS, infertility, 1 ectopic pregnancy (ruptured fallopian tube), 2-miscarriages, 6 failed IUI's and 1 failed IVF procedure with GODS guidance I have also learned to cope with these disastrous obstacles. I always tell myself,

Slowly through out the years I was able to maintain my weight between 230-240lbs but after dad passed in 2011 within the next couple of years I gained a whopping 40 lbs with my total weigh in at 267.8 in July 2, 2013. (love the simple weight recorder app, a must download!)
I was or am miserable with my weight as I have always been through out my whole life. As a patient financial counselor at the surgery center where Dr. Buschman performs all his lap band surgeries, I am very familiar with the process. I had been looking into the lap band, but would always back down and always had a reason/excuse not to attend the seminar. I am sure the lap band coordinator at Dr. Buschman's office finally got tired of me telling her I was going to the seminar and never showed up! I finally went to a seminar on Saturday, October 5. 2013.

FIRST STEP..... I walked in with the best supporter, my husband and we both sat through the whole 1hr 1/2 listening and absorbing as much information Dr. Buschman was providing. After that day, I knew what I was in for and what I wanted to do.....I wanted to get BANDED!

SECOND STEP.... I received all my instructions from the lap band coordinator, boom I had my psych evaluation scheduled for November 11, 2013...completed within an hour. (after the eval the shrink decided I wasn't as crazy as I thought I was---no kray kray meds were given) Yay!

THIRD STEP....I scheduled my appointment with the dietician November 13, 2013 --and she scared the **** outta me, but she was firm,to the point and that's what I liked about her! Went over all the do's and do not do's. Trust me you walk out of there thinking am I crazy for doing this for wanting to deprive myself? Yes, cause I am ready for this crazy journey I have already started!

FOURTH STEP...Appt scheduled with surgeon, Dr. Buschman on November 18, 2013 for H&P and get all supporting documentation to my secondary insurance company. I have dual coverage, however my primary through my employer doesn't cover bariatric surgery, but my secondary coverage with UHC is a covered benefit through my husband's insurance. (love the coca cola company).

FIFTH STEP...All clinical and supporting documentation has been received, dictation, eval reports all my past attempts for weight loss and is submitted to insurance company. (at this time all fingers/toes crossed that it will get approved) Submitted on 11/20/2013 by lap band coordinator at Dr. Buschman's office.

SIXTH STEP....Lap band coordinator called me, super excited on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 LAP BAND APPROVED, ".when do you want to schedule your surgery?" HOLY COW! BAM APPROVED IN 5 BUSINESS DAYS! She's the bomb diggity bomb!

SEVENTH STEP....surgery scheduled on January 16, 2014 lets start the new year with a NEW BANG or atleast that's what I thought. I had to cancel due to an upper respitory infection. I took everything to heart and as of January 11, 2014 I now weighed in at 244.2lbs with a total weight loss of 23.60 lbs. I RESCHEDULED my SURGERY TO JANUARY 30, 2014 and hoping to lose another 5lbs or more during my 1 week liquid diet WILL continue to add to "my story" as my journey continues! :)
