Hey y'all, I am nearly 5 months post op and I believe I have the flu. I am making sure to get fluids in but I have a fever that is ranging from 100-103. What can I take other than Tylenol? Tylenol works for about 45 mins and only brings it down doesn't break it completely. I also have a horrible headache that Tylenol won't touch.

You can contact your pharmacy for advice or contact your doctor office....Mine won't let me take anything other then Tylenol...I have to suffer it out for the sake of my sleeve I guess....

Make sure you explain your situation to the pharmacist though.....K

My surgeon allows me to use ibuprofen. That stuff will knock down a fever and a headache very nicely. Give your surgeon's office a call and see if it is okay to use it. Some say it is okay, some don't. I don't see how it can hurt, on a once in a while basis.

I hope you feel better, soon.

Check with the surgeon's office, they probably have an on-call person. They can advice you most! I hpe that you feel better. Make sure that you drink liquids so that you don't dehydrate! Karen..aka.kll724

I would go to an immediate care center and get tested for the flu. Then they can give you something to combat it.

i am just getting over a virus that had a temp just like yours and headaches. my doctor helped me out a lot. gave me cough Syrup with vicodin in it. since i am on that pain med. routinely. i also took tylenol flu and cold medicine. that helped for the headache a lot. drink lots and lots. and than wait it out. but i did contact my primary care doctor for help just as you should. he told me that this virus this season has been mild with some folks but he has had to hospitalize a few that got it severely. hope you feel better real soon. rest baby rest!!!

I agree to go to urgent care and get treated give your physician a call first

To double check what you can take. Get a jump on this so it won't get worse. Lots of fluids.

Hope that helps

Hope you feel better soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
