Anyone else have really dry mouth during the night?

Recommended Posts

I could not. Only in soft stage be careful with eggs early on I are a lot of egg beaters I was out one morning and cooked whole eggs and got really really sick. We are all different so you may have no problem but I would not wish that on anyone.

OMG - the dry mouth at night!!!!!! It's like someone put glue in my mouth. I have noticed if I am over my 64 ounces, it's not as bad. I guess that's my clue!!!!

I was allowed scrambled eggs during puree stage. Soft scrambled eggs - you can add Water, I add a splash of milk and cook them on low heat.

Yes! I was so freaked out last night. Fell asleep with and ice chip in my mouth.

Sometimes I wake up at night and my mouth is so dry I have to get up and get a drink. I also take a medicine which gives you a dry mouth so it may be a side effect.

I did not get eggs until the soft stage. Some people have problems with eggs. I was fortunate and could eat them. I have some days where I can eat two eggs over mediumand others when 1 egg scrambled with cheese fills me up.

I sleep with a bottle of Water next to my bed, most nights I wake up and end up sipping 1/2 the bottle! What's up with that? I'm getting in about 70oz a day!!

eggs were not good for me at all...horrible pain than I lost them. Not going there for a lonnngggggg time!

Onedaycloser,

I am not sure how far out you are from your surgery, but if a food does not agree with you the first time, wait a while and try it again. The first time I had an egg, I added milk and some cheese to help make them moister and cooked on a low heat.

I feel better knowing that I am not alone in the dry mouth department. I have been getting in my liquids but I still have it. SF Popsicles work great..might try st hard candies

Riberty, I will be 3 weeks out tomorrow (Monday), will take your suggestion and give it another try someday. Not a huge fan of eggs but that was scary..I think your right, too dry.

Yesterday had a small (1oz) of deli turkey smeared with cream cheese..ate micro bites and that was fine. Refried Beans with a smidge of cheese was good and always love broccoli cheese Soup 98% fat free.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
