Would like some help please...I was banded on 6/8/06, have a 4cc band, first fill at 2cc, second and 3cc, does this seem aggressive to you?? I have lost 77 lbs with 23 to go. I have acid reflux so bad I wake up choking, have not had a good nights sleep in months. Drs are not very forthcoming. I am thinking about getting some of the band released, maybe to tight?? Also, does anyone know how much Protein we are supposed to have everyday? Thanks to all who have some answers....:cry

If you're waking up during the night with severe acid reflux, I would certainly talk to your doctor and consider a slight unfill. Either way, talk to your doc, he/she may be able to help with the reflux, etc.

That seems very agressive to me. I am well over a year out, and within 10 lbs of goal, and still have less than 3ccs in my 4cc band. Are you able to eat solids easily? Any problems with getting stuck or anything else? Bad reflux is often a sign of a too tight band. I would check with the doctor again and let him know all the details. Have you tried taking an OTC acid blocker like Prevacid? It may help in the meantime, but it seems like you might need a small unfill.

I can eat anything, but in moderation of course. I have no problems with getting food stuck. Which is one of the reasons why I am wondering why I even have acid reflux. I am taking an OTC acid blocker which it seems to me it is basically useless. I believe I will go the route of a small unfill. Thanks for you input.

Discuss the reflux/heartburn with your surgeon. If you're able to eat in moderation an unfill may be unnecessary.

Your fills do not sound too aggressive to me. I've been at before, it was just too much for me. You can't compare your level of fill to someone else's. There are people who get restriction at 4ccs in a 10cc band, and there are people who get restriction at 10ccs in a 10cc band. That doesn't mean anything is wrong with either situation, just that the two people are different.

IMO is you can still eat moderate meals, 3cc in a 4cc band is fine, and two fills in nearly a year is not on my radar for "aggressive" approaches. :welldoneclap:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
