I feel a cold coming on...any tips?

I just started feeling better from a suddenly tight band, and now I feel a cold coming on. Low grade fever, stuffy nose, itchy eyes. Any tips for surviving? Anything to worry about?

I do have a doc appt tomorrow. I plan to ask for an unfill because I have zero appetite to begin with.

Rest, push fluids, hot Soup, good movies while you wallow on the sofa. Oh! And don't forget to hunt down and kill the germ bag who gave it to you. ;)

Survival tip: For the chafed nose and the skin between your nose and upper lip from blowing and blowing and blowing. Carmex. Apply a little after you blow, each time. It will protect and prevent that awful red chafing and pain.

I have done this for years after accidentally discovering it, during a particularly nasty cold. I had the horrid chafe. Was desperate, thought, what the heck, Carmex works on chapped lips, why not that skin? Slathered it on and by the next morning, it felt so much better. No more redness and pain when I blew my nose. :D

Get some zicam either lozenges or nasal spray it will help cut it in half the time you are sick.

Ginger tea, ginger tea! And zinc lozenges. Rest up!

Elderberry tea and/or Sambucus syrup (which is also elderberry). You can get this at a natural foods store.

I've also had good results with Emergency C, though with a band it's best to let the fiz settle down before drinking.

I love the ideas other people shared, especially hanging out on the couch and just taking care of YOU.

I hope you feel better soon! Hang in there :)

Send someone out to buy a lottery ticket for you! That will give you something to ponder for a while to take your mind off your symptoms. It's worked for me :)

i just got through a virus and the band didn't hinder me at all. i made chicken soup and the chicken was so tender ate it as well. my appetite sucked but i can always get down half cup of food. my doctor gave me a prescription cough medicine because i also got a horrible cough. just rest and drink fluids.
