    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

I lost 110 lbs, but have put back 10 due to careless binge eating of sliders. I am re-addicted to sugar and it's making me slowly put weight back on. I need to get myself back under control and include more protein. In more positive news, I am a runner now and have a 10K coming up. I'm so excited!!

What do YOU order at Starbucks?

Egg white egg bites! I don't like coffee.
  3. I just signed up for my first 5K race (on Mother's Day!) and suddenly I'm so emotional that I'm shaking. I've done several 5Ks in the past, both before and after my lapband in 2013 (lost 95 lbs, got pg then gained it all back plus more), but I just can't believe I'm back and going to be able to do this again! I'm in tears thinking about how much I've changed in the past year (sleeved on 3/26/21), and I'm so proud that I'm bursting. I'm half way through week 4 of Couch to 5K and things are going awesomely. I'm scared too, though, because I have fears that I'll tear something or get injured. And anyone who did C25K before knows the dreaded 20 min run is next week. I'm trying to be super careful and methodical about my stretching before and after training so I can continue running. It makes me feel invincible.
  4. For some reason I've been craving thick cut salted potato chips. I HATED these before surgery and they would NEVER be a choice I'd want. Why then am I craving them now, a year after surgery? Before surgery I would have been craving donuts, bread, chocolate, sugar, but now all I can think about is those damn potato chips, and have even given in to the urge, just to shut it up, but it didn't stop yet. I haven't had this big of a craving since I was pregnant and just HAD to have Indian food. Does my body need the salt or something? Why am I craving a food I previously hated?

    Cravings

I was having a severe craving for chips these last two weeks. I felt like I couldn't control myself. I am coming to the conclusion that I was dehydrated and was craving salt. So I upped my water and today I was at least able to get through the day without caving to them. How's your water intake?

    Taking Charge! C25K day 1!

@GettinSkinnywith @looly @blackcatsandbaddecisions Wondering if you are still running? How's it going?
  7. Dang it! I've given up sodas and margaritas!! No problem hijacking the thread. It's nice to have some friendly banter. I hope my body is not decided it's done losing. I'm like 2 lbs from Onderland. I'd be happy with another 15 lb loss. I could be at peace there I think. I see my doctor in another 2 weeks for the one year visit. I'll ask him. He'll tell me it's head hunger, I bet. Prob is. Thanks, everyone!
  8. Thank you for that suggestion. I do occasionally indulge--I like the taco flavored ones. However, I am recently trying to avoid those too because they are a trigger food for me to want to binge other slider foods. This is just clear proof that whoever says bariatric surgery is the "easy way out" sure is a big fat liar! LMAO

    Surgeon vs Nutritionist

Update please! @Lela Clark You are going to find out what works for you. Both of them are right in some ways, and not in others. You'll find your groove. I suggest journaling or at the very least keeping a real food diary so when you stall (and you will, it's just natural) you can go back and reflect on what worked well and what didn't. My nutritionist says 3 meals and 2 snacks (a shake included as a snack or meal), 1000-1200 calories, 60-80 gm protein (doc told me go to 100), and less than 100 carbs. It's working pretty well for me (when I follow it!).

    Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

My nutritionist said Hard Pass. Too much sugar in the fruit and veg, even if you got it with whey mixed in. Besides, the drinks are huge, even pre-surgery. You're better off making your own controlled smoothies at home. Here's a video link to a bariatric surgeon making a smoothie

    Favorite products

I am approaching a year out and I suggest that you don't buy a lot of anything. It's a bad habit I got myself into. Yes, you want to be prepared, but I am exiting a two month stall because of my newly formed addiction to Quest products (damn, they're awesome!). Instead, I recommend you learn to menu plan and gain a dependency on fresh foods, not pre-packaged items if that is at all possible. Lean meat, fish, and veggies are the way to win, not relying on packaged, processed food. Like others have said above, your tastes will likely change, or you stomach will. On my pre-op diet I looked forward to my chocolate Fairlife shake. Now they taste awful to me and cause unbelievable gas.

    Need a motivation re-start!!!

I can't agree that you are a slow loser. Your progress is amazing! Did you break out of your rut? How's it going now?
  13. I wear Under Armour almost all the time now under my clothes. It works well and now that my clothes are looser, there's plenty of room for them.

    What's On Your Workout Playlist?

Love your ideas! I have some weird tastes, but these make me move. My favorites are: Right Now - Van Halen Don't Stop Me Now - Queen (anything Queen is good) Beautiful Day - U2 Feel Good Inc - Gorillaz It's My Life - BonJovi Get On your Feet - Gloria Estefan Are You Gonna Go My Way? - Kenny Kravitz The Cup of Life - Ricky Martin Es Por Ti- Juanes I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor Gonna Make You Sweat - C+C Music Factory Gotta Work - Amerie Rise Up - Marchfourth Marching Band (Yes, it's the theme from Monsters University, but damn it just makes me want to move around) Right Here, Right Now - Jesus Jones anything by Bruno Mars--he's awesome

    Hey

    Sounds good! Keep it up!
  16. I'm 9 months out. It WILL get better! I get dizzy when either I'm dehydrated or I eat/drink too much too fast. I'm guessing yours is because you're dehydrated and healing. Just keep sipping as much as you can. Warm liquids went down better for me early on. You might want to try broth or tea. If you feel that you can't stand it, call your doc and let them know how you're doing. Good luck!

Smooth Move Tea. It works every time for me!
  19. Teacher here--things that are working well for me: I pack my breakfast and lunch the night before. For breakfast, which I eat on the 25 min drive to school, I have a hard-boiled egg with salt and pepper, 3 triscuits, and a few grapes. For lunch I vary it more--could be cottage cheese, deli meat and cheese, tuna pouch, or roast chicken and veg, hummus, etc. I usually don't have time for snacks, but I do keep a stash of nuts and other things in case I forget my lunch or need something. I also keep protein shakes there too. I have a note from my doctor so I can keep a mini-fridge in my classroom for medical reasons. Dinner at home is the only thing I leave undecided, but usually I make something over the weekend and portion out so when I'm exhausted at the end of the day then I don't have to think about it. To encourage me to drink, I have a 32 oz bottle of water that I fill the night before also, and usually add Crystal Light to it. My goal is to finish it by the time I get home--and frequently it's half full still when I start my drive home. I set timers for everything--to remind me to take my vitamins, to drink, to eat lunch, etc. because if I don't, it won't happen. My 30 day pill organizer is perfect for grab and go when I set up my foods the night before. I never forget them anymore. It's time we teachers practice self care, and if it means I don't get to everything on my work list, so be it. I've given so much of my life to those kids. I deserve to take care of ME now. And actually it makes me a better teacher. (I still struggle with getting enough exercise, but I got myself a smart watch that counts steps, so I try to get to 7000 each day at the very least. I'm trying to do a little yoga before bed, too.)

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Checking in! Lost almost 90 lbs. Doing so much better. I was having headaches at the beginning, but now I can definitely say they are caused either by dehydration or if I eat too much. But now they are almost gone. Haven't had any cravings except for pumpkin spice since it's fall, so I got pumpkin flavored Premier Protein. It's perfect. I don't need sugar or flour in my life anymore. Perfectly content to forego them. I tried Couch to 5K multiple times, but pulled a muscle in my hip, so I'm just walking a lot instead. My next goal is strength training. Hope everyone is feeling good and making progress.

I am down 57! I know we're not supposed to compare ourselves, but it was reassuring to know someone else is just in step with me! Congratulations on your loss!

Emotional and Stressed 5 days out

    How are you doing now?
  25. PuraVida37

    This can’t be normal

Your stomach is still healing. Don't do those things yet! Just because you can doesn't mean you should. You should be following your doctor's plan. You might be doing damage to your stomach, which is not healed yet. You could cause a leak.
