Help ! Cannot get the meds or vitamins in.. 4 days post op

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Monday and I have meds you to take that my doc prescribed and my pre op meds as well. This morning I took out the meds from my nexium and med for preventing gall stones from the capsule. Put in a little Water..added sugar free limeade. It was so horrible to taste .but I did swallow these meds.. Then a few hours I smashed my meds that I have bebe taking for a long time. Lexapro , Wellbutrin and a lose dose blood pressure pill. I put in a little bit of Water but hardly ingested cause not too long after I took the nexium., etc.. My body rebelled and through it up. My chest was hurting with gas also. I started feeling very nausea and then I threw up .

How can I take my meds without spewing it. up. I am afraid if I don't keep my antidepressants, down..I will be adversely affected and my mood will change for the worse. Please let me know what u did to take meds in a way that is tolerable. Thanks.. Your suggestions are much appreciated.

To be honest, I didn't try to take my meds for the 1st few days post-op. I was barely able to sip Water and take a bite of a Popsicle. So I focused on staying hydrated. After about day 7, I was able to swallow my meds. You might contact your doctor and find out if there are liquid versions of your meds he can substitute.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
