Try Unjury chicken broth Protein Powder. Great break from the sweet drinks.< /p>

The unjury chicken is great, especially mixed with chicken broth. I drank that a lot immediately postop. Also, consider making your own shakes from powder, instead of buying the premade ones. You can mix them with non-sweet things to cut the sweetness a little. Try mixing with plain nonfat greek yogurt, skim or almond milk, PB2 Peanut Butter, coffee, etc. Also, you can mix unflavored powder into puddings, broth, and other Soups to boost the Protein. Your preop diet may not leave much room for flexibility, so don't go off of it, but just keep these ideas in mind for later.

There is a whole sub-forum dedicated to Protein Drinks. I'll move this thread there and you can also read the other info available in there. I think you'll find that your tastes change after surgery, so don't buy a lot of anything during the pre-op! For what it's worth my favorite Protein drinks are the Optifast VLCD chocolate. Not too sweet, not too high in calories, but reasonable amount of protein (17 grams in a serving). There are other protein powders with 30+ grams in a serving, but I find that the calories are higher than I am willing to go, and the Optifast also has a good coverage of Vitamins and minerals.

By far the best Protein drink I've tasted is the nectar whey Protein Isolate. DrVita.com was having a special on it, don't know if it's still going. It's a bit more expensive but well worth it. There are tons of flavors, all carb and fat free with gobs of protein. There are fruit flavored ones you mix with Water and more traditional ones that can be made with milk or Water. I ordered the vanilla Torte, the Cappucino and the Fuzzy Navel.

I like the Pure Protein pre-made chocolate. I purchase them from costco. Works out to $1.50 per drink for 30 grams of Protein, 3 grams of carbs and 160 calories.

My surgeon recommended it. Great chocolate taste.

Although I'm on 1 week pre-op liquids only, so I'm getting a little tired of them (4x a day)...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
