Recommended Posts

Happy that I have made it this far in 4 months..lost 58 pounds befor surgery. Someone close to me said YOU DONT EVEN DESERVE TO HAVE THE SURGERY. What if their right, I don't. I let this happen to me no one else. I was so happy last couple of days. Now I am so sad that I am questioning everything

No one has the right to say that to you!!!! The nerve! You DO deserve to be healthy and happy! Do it for yourself. You may have 'let' it happen to yourself but now you are doing something about it. This is YOUR life and YOUR decision. Keep your happy thoughts! If people genuinely care about you they will come around. If not, best to lose them now. Hang in there! :-)

That person DESERVES to be shown the door and right out of your life.

Seriously.

They are toxic to you.

What YOU deserve is a life without this poison in it.

Grrrr!

I'm still upset about this.

Whoever said that to you must have been someone whose opinion about you matters to you.

I hope that your bypass surgical program includes post-operative counseling and support. Please tell your surgeon and your post-surgical care team about this comment. They will help you get your head straight about this situation and this person.

The reasons for obesity are very, very complex. Becoming obese requires a whooooole lotta things to line up in a certain way in order for that to happen. You are going to have an opportunity to become educated about that in the months to come.

BTW, I saw a post here this morning from a guy named Frank who had WLS a year ago. He has lost 200 pounds already (!!!) and has another 100 to go. Just visualize yourself that way. :)

Go get 'em. :)

Ummmmmmm hello. Offer that person my # and I will set them straight for you. Goodness! That is information/words that you need to let go in one ear and out the other. Do NOT consider that person or their words any form of support and good advice. You are taking care of you and this is about YOU not that person. You keep moving forward in your daily progress AND you go for surgery and let your life turn itself around, as you see fit. This is coming from a girl who is having surgery (RYGB) next week, Tuesday the 17th. I am getting more and more nervous, but I am staying on track and gonna do this. This will be the BEST GIFT I have ever given myself. You do the same.......this is your present to YOU!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
