  • Popular Post

Well I finally have a surgery date set to Jan 8th. I am so excited that it's finally approaching. I have been on this journey since August! I can not explain how thrilled and excited I am. I have so many thoughts that goes through my mind like what should I pack? Etc. Anyone else have a date for January?

  • I am having my surgery on Jan 7!! I'm really excited but also very nervous... I'm 23 years old. I don't know many people as young as me that's gotten it done.

I have a 1 week liquid diet I'm not looking forward to. I was mad when I had to survive on liquids until 4 pm for my EGD.

I am also on the 8th of January! One week pre-op liquid diet starts on the 1st. A new year for a new me! Are y'all excited? I am way more excited than nervous. I think I'm most nervous about how hungry I'm going to be on the pre-op liquid diet!

Jan 7th for me. My program doesn't do the liquid pre-op diet but I am very curious about thinking it might be a good idea! Can't wait to continue down the rd been doing this since Aug but i'm contemplated it for more then a year! Can't wait to prove ppl wrong and to prove to myself that I can use this tool to the best of my ability! Good luck everyone

The purpose of the liquid protein diet is to harden and shrink the liver making it easier to retract for ease of access to the upper part of the stomach making the surgery easier and safer. Also you lose 3-5lbs a week.

My surgery is scheduled for Jan 2. I am really looking forward to it.

Mine is Jan 20th!! So excited & nervous.

My Surgery date is Jan 8th. I am now getting anxious about it. I want to know what protien powder or drinks taste the best? I am so excited for all of us January people!

A lot of people prefer powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein. I use Atkins ready to drink shakes because they're fast and I like them. Early on I found an unflavored protein at Faunce Corner Nutrition in Dartmouth MA that worked for me. They carry a lot of bariatric products. I used it in Soups, puddings, and yogurt to get my protein. Honestly, though, don't stock up on anything pre-op. Your tastes change quite a bit post-op. Your best bet is to pick up some samples of things you think you'll like to try for after your surgery, and a container of an unflavored protein to add to foods when you are on full liquid and then pureed stages. There's nothing to be anxious about. I thought the whole surgery and recovery was pretty easy. My gallbladder surgery was definitely worse. Good luck! :-)

Awesome info I live close to Faunce corner so I'll have to grab some of the unflavored protein powder.

I have been fighting with my Insurance and meeting requirements and finally after 20 months I am scheduled for January 14th. I was super excited then I started having nightmares now im excited again after going to a bariatric support meeting.

Maybe it's oregon! I'm in oregon too and have been in the program 12 months and on top of everything! By the time I have surgery it will be 15 months. I had 10 weeks of health as nutrition classes, sleep study, 3 separate group meetings, social worker and dietician meetings (an hour each). A follow up with the social worker and nutritionist, January 15th I have my pre op class then I'll have an appointment with my surgeon and schedule surgery. I literally call my case manager as soon as I'm walking out the door completing one step to schedule the next and each step seems to be scheduled 5-8 weeks apart. I have already done my drug test lab work and ultrasound of my gall bladder as well. I'm getting closer!
