    Fitbit

I am thinking of getting a fit bit. Is it really worth it and how accurate is it? I use a pedometer right now and I noticed if I am driving slow it adds up steps I never actually took. In one day it added over 3000 steps while it was sitting in my van door ????. I don't want to spend that kind of money if it's going to do that. Have any of you tested the fit bit? I would appreciate feed back. ????thanks!
  2. This is my biggest fear ????. I had surgery 01/20/14. My highest weight was 298lbs I now weigh 178. I started my journey in Jan of 2011 when I realized I was obese and was tired of not being able to do things with my family! For the last 2.5 months I have been at a stand still within 5 lbs! My goal was to get to 175 by Dec 31st. I gain half a lbs one week then lose a lb the next up and down! So frustrating!! Yesterday I decided I would shock my body into losing the last 3 lbs. for 3 days I would eat about 1000 calories while making sure to get my water and protein. I too need support!! I still have an addiction to food! It does not help that I am at home all day and tend to munch all day. I want to lose an additional 20-25 lbs over the next year. Everyday will be a struggle. I am not a lover of exercise I do it because I have to.
  3. So sorry to hear about your miscarriage . I finally found my way into this post! It's been way to long! I am really struggling with my journey! I am stuck on a plateau for 3 mths up and down within 5 lbs so very frustrating!! I had hoped to lose an extra 5 lbs by Dec 31. But that does not look like it will happen! I can eat everything and anything with no problems and this makes this journey so hard. When I look in a mirror I see a new me very exciting!! But when I look down at myself I still see the 275 lbs Nettie ! I now weigh 180 my goal by next December 31st (2015) is to weigh about 150. Initially my goal was to wear a size 14-12. Now that has changed to a 10-12. I live being able to shop in a regular section!! No more plus size which is the best feeling ever!! I am a comfortable 14 sometimes 16 depends on brand. My sisters tell me I am good where I am at and that I can stop losing now. I exercise weekly maybe not as often as I should but at least I am no longer a complete couch potato! I go to aerobics every Monday and play volleyball for 90 minutes every Wednesday! Love those days!! With our freezing cold winters it's tread-milling for me! I would love to hear more updates!! How are you doing Jaci? Are you at goal?

    Tailbone problems anyone?

Oh my gosh I thought mine was due to a tumble on the ice while ice skating! I am going to see if they will ship to Canada.
  5. You look AWESOME Jaci!! Congrat!!
  6. Wow way to go Jaci and Kenny! Great job! I have lost 55 lbs now this yr. It's tough going somedays I fight the food demon on a daily basis . I am losing way slower then I wanted. But other things are great I have way more energy! I coach my 5 yr olds soccer team and assist on my 9 yr olds baseball team! I was up on the roof painting my siding this weekend! I am going on a weekend camp out with Scouts Canada this June. Last year I would not have moved of my lawn chair! This to me is huge! I went from a 22 to a comfortable 16. Keep up the great work everyone!
  7. Hello my American friends! We are planning a weekend of shopping and R&R in your area so looking forward to it! Where is the best place for me to go to stock up on protein bars and Isopure? I only use them in a pinch or on crazy busy days but I want variety and best bang for my buck. Also if you don't mind letting me know what your favourite family restaurant is that would be great. Would love to take my family someplace new to eat! Thx !
  8. Way to go you guys and gals!! I am doing well had my 3 mth check up yesterday I am down 52 lbs. My doc is very happy I thought it was a bit slow especially lately. Some weeks it's less then a lb. I have to reassure myself that 50+ lbs in under 4 mths is incredible!! Now every where I go people are noticing and commenting thanks to no more heavy winter parkas! Keep up the great work!!
  9. Am having open rny on Jan 20 I have hypo thyroid. This makes losing weight really hard. Does anyone else have thyroid and can I still expect to lose regularly with only an occasional plateau?
  10. I had my surgery alone I flew to Alberta Canada to have it done. The hospital is a 12 hr drive from our home. I was away for 6 days 5 were spent in the hospital. The staff was incredible!!

    Help in choosing a bike...

I second the bike shop! You end up spending more then in a box store but so worth it! When I bought mine I negotiated a free year of maintenance and tune ups. My bike is fitted to me and rides so smooth!

    Alcohol and Mixed drinks

I decided to add Baileys to my coffee. It was my first drink after surgery and oh so yummy! I took my 3 little boys out for a walk when the baileys hit my head I felt so totally DRUNK! We were just down the road and had to come home so I could have a small snack and literally sober up with some regular coffee! Next time I try a drink I will not be around my children. So did not expect that!!
  15. Wow Cfergie you have had a tough road! Congrats on your amazing weight loss stats!

    Other Canadians?

I have been ok with hydrating myself I sip water all day when I go to a party I treat myself to a crystal lite. I also drink 1-2 cups of coffee a day I started that 6 wks after surgery. 'Forever' manicure is my term for keeping up the upkeep on gel nails ( filling them every few weeks). If I get them done here in town they are $35, in winnipeg there are lots of shops run by Asians where it's only $25 for a manicure or pedicure. That's a lot cheaper then $110!!

    Other Canadians?

It's going well. I have had a few "stuck" issues but after get rid of it I am fine. I have lost 43 lbs this year!! That's way more then I lost after an entire year of WW's. I set a goal of walking 60 miles on the treadmill for March and I am on pace. Next month will be a different goal . I have 15kbs to go till I hit my first milestone onederland!!! Not sure what my reward will be yet! I can't decide between a Kurig and a forever manicure (gel nails). Good luck this week!

    Other Canadians?

Good luck Yvette on your upcoming surgery! Keep us posted. I was referred in Jan/13 for surgery in Medicine Hat Alberta my consultation was supposed to be June 26/14. I called Dr's office and asked to change that appointment or put me on the cancelation list. They did just that and I had my surgery Jan/20/14, 6 mths before I was supposed to have my initial consultation! Had I waited for A MB surgery I would have had to wait until at least Dec/14!

    Bathroom issues....TMI

Yep same thing happened to me! I am 2 mths post op now and still only go a few times a day.
  20. Wow that's incredible all procedures at one time! I love it! Only 1 down time! How do you stay comfortable? Can you even sit? How do you sleep I imagine on your side. Were you able to fly home or did you drive? Sorry for all the questions. I can't wait till I can get some work done but it's a long ways away!
  21. Congrats the work looks great! How many different times did you have to go see him for surgery? How long did you have to stay in Mexico each time?

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

7 weeks post op today! I decided to start C25K. Although I was active when I was in school I could never do any distance running. I would always get a stitch in my side and be gasping for breath and my lungs hurt! What would be a good pace to walk and run the c25k to start with? I looked back at old posts and wow there is no way I can run at an 8 speed! I walked at 3.4 and ran at 4.4 and I was sweating! Is this ok to start with especially considering I have tonnes of extra weight to carry or should I increase my speed? Any advice would be great! Thx
  25. Yes I sometimes wonder what is wrong. My biggest fear is failure . I am 41 and they say losing is even harder after 40 plus with a thyroid I fear the worse. I can eat almost anything except rice, pasta and breads. My next plan is to go back to just liquids maybe that will give me a kick in the right direction!
