Everyone's been there, you're not the only one...hang in there....right now all you can do is what you've done before the surgery....

Hang in there! Everyone seems to go through it. I had my surgery in July and then proceeded to gain all 14 lbs back. The Silver lining? Since my last fill 2 weeks ago, I have lost 9 lbs!Stay focused. You've got this!

Hi Lovebug, you're not alone, that's for sure. Don't feel badly about yourself -- we all got banded for the same reason: appetite control. You are on your way.....just need to get the fill right and you'll have that relief of the appetite monster off your back. Personally I think it's particularly hellish because we got a good taste of that post-op -- I just wasn't hungry at all. Such a happy feeling! Then the appetite returned as I knew it probably would. My first fill was last week and I go back again this week to assess for another. We will get to that place of satisfaction on a small amount of food for 4-5 hours and able to make good high protein choices. It's all happening, just a process.

Be careful what you wish for....with increased restriction comes increased responsibility....I have seen too many freak out from the change and go the other way....then complain their band is not working.....

Give yourself some love! It is going to take you some time to get to the green zone and to be able to make the life style change and eating habit changes that the band requires. Faster is not always better.

Don't beat yourself up, try to take each lesson in stride until you reach that green zone eating smaller portions and not feeling hungry is going to take time. So while you are moving forward to that point, take the time to notice your eating habits, your eating and chewing strategy. Do you still drink and eat at the same time? Do you take your time to eat your meal at least 20 minutes?

For right now if you need a bit more to feel full, that is OK as you are not at your optimal fill level. You will get there, but give it a chance and it will be well worth the wait and effort you put toward it.

Remember just to follow your Doc's orders and you will do just fine also if you got the post op diet stick to that it is REAL hard to do but will help and that you had major surgery , when I asked y doc if I had anything in my band after a month when I went for y follow up post op fro surgery he said there was nothing so when I went the second follow up ,he then started my fills till I really started feeling restriction and it took a while for e some banders only need a little and some not at all so remember we all are different and it will get better it really does just hang in there and soon you will e posting pics and other stuff on your progress and buying new clothes and such , good luck on your journey,

Nothing unusual about that. You'll find that the closer you get to your fill time, the less you stay satisfied on the amount of food we are supposed to eat. Once you get in the Green Zone, you will have periods of over eating, but they don't last long and the affects are not permanent.

Until your band is filled and gets you to the Green Zone, you will be hungry. Most people don't have any restriction from the Band alone. My surgeon told me that until you get filled and feel restriction, you're working on will power only and if you lose before you make it to the Green Zone, you're doing it on your own. So it's like you're on a restricted quantity of food, with no restriction. It's just something everyone goes through in the beginning, but hang in there it gets better. I'm lucky, my surgeon is very aggressive with fills. So I made it to Green Zone on my second fill. Best wishes

Also, make sure you're eating Protein first, and you're getting adequate amounts because protein keeps you fuller longer.

I am on day 3 post-op. From 12/6-12/8, I've no more than 5-8 sips of Water all day, nothing more. Very thankful they required and overnight stay, which I didn't want. However, the continued drip in my IV saved me from dehydration.

Still have left shoulder pain and gas bloating. I've found if I do lay down for a little, I do feel the gas moving, which results in burps or gas.

I use one of those small 4 tsp medicine cups that comes with children's medicine and drink 3-4 tsp of Pedialite or water. So far cannot drink more than 1-2 caps an hour or I feel too full and pain in my chest and back.

The best thing for the gas and shoulder pain is a heating pad and walking around. I also found sipping hot broth helped relieve the gas. Hang in there it gets better.

Actually millions of people die from hunger! Just not the ones with the lapband.
