Recommended Posts

Well at first I went through my regular doctor and got nowhere. Then I saw true results on the tv. They worked with my insurance, had to do four months with them. Blood work, had to talk with a nutritionist, and did a couple of tests for breathing and heart monitoring. Started this back in June and already got my lap band.

Congratulations......the first few months with the band can be very confusing, and in my case, very frustrating....a lot happens they just don't, and can't warn you about.....at one point I felt it was a big waste of time and $$.....

For me it took a good 4-6 months for things to finally fall into place...both with the band adjustments, and probably most of all, Me adjusting to the band....a lot of hard lessons learned....

But once that balance was achieved, it became undoubtedly the absolute very best thing I could have ever done for myself....the band took care of all the things I was unable to do on my own with traditional dieting.....and I slowly and steadily lost weight until I reached the point where the body had no more excess weight to give up....in other words everything, my weight, my eating, my exercise, all returned to a new, good and normal(?) lifestyle....

So, you may get frustrated, and there are a lot of people on this forum who are frustrated making things confusing for some......BUT THIS BAND CAN, AND DOES WORK.......

Me, and many others here can give witness to that truth based upon first hand experience...

Again, Welcome and Congratulations on your decision.......

Thank you for sharing. I'm waiting for my first fill cause I wanna be able to fill how this band really works. Yeah I know it's not all the way filled up, so that way I can form my new stomach. And the restriction isn't right enough so it's allowing me to eat a little more. But as far as it's working, I can tell it is. I'm getting full faster but it doesn't last long. So far it had helped me lose 23 pounds in two weeks. The thing I'm wondering about and maybe you can answer it, how did you deal your bodies excess skin, if you had any? Did it just form on its own and fall right into place, with the dieting and a routine work out.

Well I started this process in June and got my surgery in November. So about five months. What took the longest were those four months I had to do with true results. And that was because it was part of my insurance requirements. After that everything went very fast.

slomeli84, you are currently in what is referred to as "bandster hell". This is the time after surgery and healing but before your 1st fill! Some very frustrating folks on here never need a fill! (I say this with a smile  )! Most of us "normal" people need fills!

You are doing good if you can go a few hours between meals. Just watch what you are putting into your mouth. Make sure that you are eating protain 1st, and then veggies and carbs. If you have not spoken with a nutritionist, you might want to for help. Best wishes, Karen

Regarding excess skin...there's not much you can do about it. It mostly depends on how much weight you expect to lose and genetics. Oh, and probably age. I'm 55, lost nearly 100 lbs. and am a saggy sally for sure. The good news is that I can hide most of it under clothes and there's always plastic surgery. Good luck...23 lbs. after two weeks is a great start.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
