hey everyone I am 3 months pre op, my surgery is in march. I was just wondering how many of you are post op or are even at your goal and did not have to surgery to remove excess skin. I want to know your secrets! :-D right now I walk 2 miles a day to and from the gym 5 days a week where I do 2.5 miles on the elliptical on the weight loss setting, and 2-3 days a week I'm doing zumba toning with sticks. I drink lots of Water and eventually as I start losing more I'll start toning more. Just wanted to know what your exercise regimen looks like :)

I am 18 months post op and at goal weight. I could use some excess skin removed, but mainly just to reshape a few things. I started at 256 and have lost 125. I think the key is to stay active and get in the gym as soon as you can post op. I was lifting weights and playing soccer as soon as I could. My arms are not flabby at all. My area of need is my tummy and boobs. I started out as a 42f and now they look like deflated saggy Water balloons. Not sure there are too many exercises that will help with that. Still working on my stomach and seeing some results as I concentrate on it. Hope that helps

Thank you for your reply!! I got ripped off in the boob department, I'm 327 lbs and can't quite fill out a c cup so maybe I will get lucky! It seems like it's inevitable that i will have loose skin on my stomach but if i can get enough shrinkage to where it looks like I may have just had twins lol I can cover that with clothing, I'm mostly concerned about my arms and legs, I want to be able to wear cute shorts and shirts!

i think a lot boils down to age, how much weight one has to lose, genetics, skin elasticity..

like me who was a high BMI'er, i am gonna have sag....i will do my best to tone and do what i can..

surgery is always an option...but if i cant afford that or ins says no..i am okay with sag then being super morbid obese again

Everyone is different as to how much skin they have and it is all based on how long you have been over weight and how much you have to lose. I am 3 years post surgery, at goal and have a little lose skin on my belly but not enough to hang over, my tummy just looks soft, like after you have a baby. My abdomen is flat, but I do work out and have worked out with weights since my first year. I lost 134 lbs total and have maintained my weight for over a year. In the boob department, I could use a lift and some bigger boobs but it is what it is and Victoria's Secret makes great bras. I used to be a 38 D and today I am a 32 B barely probably closer to an A, but based on my current size I look proportionate. Good luck.

I still have 40 lbs to lose and I'm a shar pei....I was 39 when I had my RNY. I'm 5'6 and topped out years ago at 312 (BMI 54...I was a very big girl). And I've been overweight my entire life and obese my entire adult life....I'm also very thin skinned and don't seem to have a lot of elasticity (thanks mom!!!!). I think there's absolutely NO chance in hades that this skin will spring back.

You've got age on your side! Keep yourself and your skin hydrated and cross your fingers :)

It depends how much you weight. My highest weight when I started my. Journey was 360 pounds. I'm three months post op and since I started with the process I've lost over a hundred pounds losing sixty plus pounds after surgery. When I started working out my arms where the first to sag along with boobs, and now I see my stomach and thighs are starting to sag which is good, but I have really low self esteem, so I look at myself in the mirror and I'm disgusted with my stomach I just started to fit into 24's which fit but with the skin starting to sag my loose skin hangs over. I've decided to buy a tummy control wear. On the plus side my surgeon said with all the rashes I get under my stomach insurance is more likely to pay for my skin removal for my stomach. I also went from a 52ddd to a 46b to a 46c depending on material. The only thing I'm okay with right know is my bat wings on my upper arms.

Make sure to get protein in. I hardly can eat meat without getting sick fish and nuts are the only protein I can eat. When I look at Protein Shakes I want to puck. With me not getting enough protein I've started drinking pop again, which the dietitian said was caused from low protein so its part me and part of having low protein. Trust me low protein you will start loosing your hair. I brush my hair wether dry or wet and chuncks come out. Good luck

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
