Feeling Like A Failure...

Recommended Posts

@dylanmiles23

Wow u've done great so I guess there wld be no need for fills. I didnt know 2.4 was working for u.

And its true, I do feel like im in a race.

My family believes Ive wasted my money getting wls bcuz ive spent the last 4 months getting "fills" and u cant really explain the adjustments to people who've not had lap band surgery.

All they see is no results.

Ive had two friends cancel their lap band consultations because theyve not seen my dramatic transformation & it saddens me too.

Im definitely not the poster child for wls.

Don't let others judge unless they walk in your shoes. I know I am off all my meds! I took 6 pills a day just to eat food and when I had the band I had my hernia repaired. My blood pressure is perfect, those pills are gone. That part is not being a failure but a NSV. Have you taken measurements and seen those numbers change? I use to wear a size 18-20 plus size jeans and now wear a 14 misses.

I don't share with anyone but my husband and this site how much I weighed, how much I weigh now or how many pounds I have lost.

Enjoy your weekend and don't let others bother you. You will do fine.

Everyone is different, what works for some, doesn't work for others. I have had 5 cc forever, anything more, and I even liquids don't pass through. I keep wanting more, as I have gained some wheight, but I knw I can't handle more. Some lucky folks have never had a fill, otehrs have fileld to teh brim, and don't feel restriction. Now, let me tell you, restriction is NOT something that will keep you from eating, it is just supposed to keep you from feeling hungry in less than 3 hours. Best wishes, don't hurt yourselves by making your band too tight! Karen

Thx ladies, I hope you're right.

My next fill is Wednesday 12/11. Shes going to give me a .1cc to 8.4.

Hoping this works!

My surgeon says to fill a small plate with the recommended Protein vege and starch. Eat protein then vege then starch. If you get hungry before the 4 hour mark...next meal increase amt protein on the plate. He doesn't like to fill unless you've done this and still get hungry before 4 hours. Purpose is if you're eating more Proteins you'll be eating less starch. I try to avoid starches in evening cuz I think they make me crave more starch. I try all protein in the evening but not always easy to do. I've only just started this practice so I'm still waiting to see results. All of us are different. I do know that 90% of mine isn't hunger cuz sometimes I've just eaten when these urges hit and I start looking for things to satisfy the cravings. Head hunger is something we just have to learn to deal with. 7 months out and I'm still learning early signs of saity. Also I'm training myself to limit my weighing. I find myself rewarding myself for losing and punishing myself for gaining...both with food. Ugh.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
