April, the mat couple days were the toughest for me with exhaustion. I felt like The Walking Dead. (See what I did there?!). It was really tough. But you're almost through it!

Thanks Jen. I know. I just didn't want to place myself in a position to be overcome with the food around me. But I'll be ok. It does totally suck balls though

I actually got a full 4 hrs strait with it on last night, which is rare. Mine has a memory card instead of a modem and they check it every 90 days.

I'm hoping to get some rest and wake up refreshed tomorrow Bc I've got a whole apartment to pack up. Moving around the first of March.

We can do it, it just isn't easy.

Well guys I put the diet aside to eat out with my family tonight for Valentines. I have to admit it was so yummy! Tomorrow is a new day back on track & I'm gonna try to get a walk in to make up for today. Glad all of you are doing well.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it's a little disconcerting that you just "set aside" the diet you NEED to follow so easily.

*I'm not trying to be a dick here, but.....

:(

I hope everything goes well. It's a very difficult diet. My son brought home a little Caesars pizza and crazy bread. But I didn't partake Bc I'm needing to know I have control over my eating habits. Me. In control.

Sweety, please, please, please get back on track tomorrow. We are here for you and I know it's hard but this is go time. We are in the end zone here.

A major part of this process is this diet. I hope you can get back on track tomorrow and not have any more set backs. This isn't a diet for only shrinking the liver, but also as a test of what's to come.

<3 you can do this. But only if you have the strength to be stronger than the food

I like the new name Chick!

I'm home. I feel pretty good. I keep forgetting this is the third time these incisions have been used so I am more sore than I expected. But I will keep this pain to not have the trapped gas pain. I had that with all my previous surgeries and was so concerned I would have to deal with that. I know the soreness will be gone in a few days.

I have not experienced hunger yet. I keep thinking I am but then I realize its just my stomach moving or gurgling.

So far so good!

Haha. Glad to know I have friends! I knew

People would wonder where I was. But I was just so dang out of it! That anesthesia is no joke. I basically slept 22 hours straight. This morning I thought "I will never get out of bed again!" And tonight I'm wandering around my house no problem. My sweet husband just said it's good to see me up on my own. I'm sure his arms are just about dead from me needing his help every time I stood. I'm so glad to be out of surgery and back home. I'm planning on a walk with hubs and baby tomorrow. We are having gorgeous weather and I know the activity is good for healing.

Hey everyone,

I have been gone for a while. I was sleeved on the 10th. I had my prayers, lip balm, and gas x ready. Lol. All I can remember was the recovery room. My blood pressure did spike a little. My surgeon said my liver was good and it was a nice sleeve.

I live in GA, and left the hospital the next morning. We were snowed in and all I had was broth and popsicles. Lol. Today, I feel great. My husband took me shopping because I can't eat anything. Walking helped soooooo much. I was miserable before. I was able to walk today, and I feel like a million bucks.

Let me be honest. Day 2 I cried alone due to regret. I finally shared it with my husband today. I asked myself, y couldn't I do this myself. I asked , what had I done to myself. I prayed for understanding. Today, my rainbow after the storm has come.

This post is very long, I felt it would be selfish to not share my truth. I have a wonderful support system, and my husband has been great. Oh. Fyi. I am 35 lbs down from my last weight in before pre opt. I wish you all luck.

You lucky duck!! You're blessed to have him, indeed! And yes, they say the more you walk, the faster you heal. I can't wait to watch your progress!!! You are going to do so great!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
