hil26 - Totally feel your pain! Yes, it will go away, eventually. I had my surgery on 2/12 and it was almost 3 weeks till I felt like I didn't have a basketball in my chest/stomach. I also had a lot of shoulder pain from the excess air. That was almost worse than any tummy pain. I used one of those spa neck wraps heated for 2 minutes in the microwave. It literally became a part of me for a couple of weeks. The area by my port is still tender after 4 weeks. I was pretty surprised anything would still cause some pain. Here's wishing you luck! I've only lost 10 lbs. so far (first week)...which is a little discouraging, but Dr. said anything lost prior to getting a fill is pretty much a bonus and due to diet change. We're all good at dieting, but in the end, I think we want to be able to sit and eat a regular meal like everybody else, just be able to control our portions without starving. You can do it. After the first 4-5 days my Dr. said it's OK to use 800 mg. Ibuprophen every 6 hrs. It helped sooooo much more than the liquid Tylenol. Hang in there...first fill next Mon. I'll keep you posted!

I am going take some Ibuprophen. I actually have not had any pain meds today so to relax I am going to try that. THANKS FOR THE Support.

This, too, shall pass...

The things that helped me the most were

1. Walking as much as possible

2. Heating pad

3. Warm vanilla flavored liquid Tylenol PM

4. Gas-X Strips

Hang in there...it really will get better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
