Bloating And Gas Pains?!?!

Recommended Posts

How long do they take to go away?! It seems that they are the only thing that still hurt!!! I had my surgery 11/20/13, how much longer do I have to endure this pain?! Any tips or tricks to get rid of the gas faster?! Thanks!

Walking helped me when I had my band out and heat packs because the pain had gone into my shoulders.

I'm due to be sleeved in 7 weeks.

Keep up the great work 6lb in 3 days is awesome

If you're meaning the gas from surgery, it can take up to like two weeks.

BUT! then you could also have gas pains from food. I'm almost a month post-op and I still have gas pains from food.< /p>

One of the nurses from my surgeon's office had the bypass and she's four months out, still experiencing gas pains from food.

I'm two months bypass and the only time I have pain is with dairy products, Beans (actually in the chilli) or if I consume too much sugar. Greek yogurt doesn't bother me, nor non-fat cottage cheese, but milk itself yes. I use GasX, and walking, walking, walking helps especially so soon after surgery.

My gas pains went away by day 7. I walked A LOT and just moving around seemed to ease the pressure. My 1st couple of days, I felt like I had one of those Alien "chest burster" critters sitting under my ribcage. :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
