Just set my surgery date, finally!!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I've been reading through this forum for a few months and I've learned tons from it.

My banding date is set for March 26, I'm so excited.

I'm being banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico, I'm self pay and I'm traveling alone since it's on such short notice.

Any advice anyone can offer me would be completely appreciated...

I started my preop diet today it consists of 2 protien shakes and a lean cusine in the evening.

Looking forward to hearing from any of you!!!

Hi and congratulations on your upcoming banding! I was banded on 1/30/07 and am doing well. I wish you the best on your surgery day. It will be here before you know it. Good luck and keep us posted! Gigi

Thanks I'm very excited and trying to do my best with the preop diet. The chromium picolinate that the doctor recommended for cravings has really helped.

I wished the chromium worked for me. Right now I am on three shakes a day and I am starving. Good luck to you!

How many milligrams of the chromium are you doing? I was told at GNC that how many times a day i took the chromium depended on me, its supposed to regulate blood sugar metabolism thus helping to control sugar craving and cravings in general, so maybe you need to take it more than once a day..

I took Chromium for quite a while, but then I saw this paper:

and stopped. I was taking 200 mcg three times a day. I didn't really feel that it helped me much, either. But hey, if it stopped any of my cravings, I'd still be taking it :) I am glad it does seem to work for some.

And congrats on your band date!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
