Hold off on Lap band

Recommended Posts

I've been up and down with trying to make my decision on the lapband and as soon as I make up my mind my doc found a cyst on my overy. I have to wait 6 weeks before she makes any decisions on taking it off. So Iam going to hold off for awhile until I find out whats going on with my overy. Iam not too disapointed, I made a appointment with a diet clinic this week so hopefully I can get some of this weight off before summer. I just want to wish all of you the best of luck. I was wondering if I could still hang out and maybe show some of my before and after pictures too! Thats if this diet works. Thanks for all the advise!

I believe as long as you are supportive of the bandsters, and the way they are approaching their weight loss, we will be supportive of yours! Many here are not banded yet, or have lost a band to one thing or another, and are still great supporters, and we are glad they are still here---so I am sure you too will be welcomed.

Good Luck in your diet, and with your cyst, they are no fun at all!

Kat

Thanks for the support. Have you ever had a cyst? I was checked for cancer and everything came back good. How bad can cyst get? The doc acts like its no big deal, but it is for me.

Several years ago I had to have a cyst removed. It was as big as a softball. The surgeon that I went to ended up cutting me from my belly button clear down to my line. That was before all of the lap surgeries that they do now. He told me that women get these all of the time but normally they disolve but some of them don't. Well on my last visit I was told I have another one the size of a walnut but he won't do anything with it right now just watch it. They can become very painful if nothing done with them.

I have a student with a cyst the size of a grapefruit. You can see it sticking out. She's having trouble getting the docs to take it out. I guess they are waiting for it to go down, but it isn't. These things can get really big and are painful. I feel for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
