Hi All,

Im 5 days out from surgery and although my port pains seems to be getting better by the day, I still almost feel like i can feel the band around my stomach. Its like a feeling right under my sternam(spelling),like a pulling. I also think i still have some gas left because it feels like i need to burp but cant , and it kind of hurt. When i lay on my sides i feel it pulling as well? Just wanted to know if this is normal and how long should it last.

Thanks for all the great info Guys!:girl_hug:

Hi Stacy! I too had my banding on the 5th. I thought by now I would be feeling better. I can feel "something there" also. That hasn't let up at all. I developed a huge hematoma to the left of my top incision. I think that is why I am not feeling as well as I should because it hurts like heck. I am feeling very nauseous today too. I sure hope things get better. I am having second thoughts now as to why I did this to myself! I read posts from some people who have gone back to work on day 3, who are driving on day 5. I can't imagine...I hope you are doing better than I think I am! One day at a time I suppose. Thanks and hope things go well for you. Take care.

It took me a full 3 weeks to start feeling myself again. The swelling was gone, the port pain has chilled considerably (although just one wk ago, I was in another thread, asking if the pain was normal), and my energy level is almost 100% again.

Hang in there! It does get better!

Call your doc if it persists. I went through exactly what you described and then it went away.....but better to check with doc.

thanks girls for your advice and replies. I know it will get better and I just need to give it more time. Helen I can't imagine going back to work as of yet. I need another week off. How did you do it? Both you and Betsy have great weight losses! Keep up the good work! Take care!

Banders from the 6th--chin up--It sounds like we all start out very positive and look forward to all the benifits we can gain by losing, but in pain all positivity can get lost.

I'm sorry that you are feeling this way,:cry but am appreciating that you post so when I get banded I will have a realistic expectation.

I do hope that what you are feeling is "normal", and no concern for Doc.

Both of you hopefully will quickly gain comfort and strength and success.

Think possitive when you are able---thinking of you---congratulations on surgery---good luck in recovery---

Hang in there. It will go away. I found out simply trying to relax and eating verrry slowly before I knew it that feeling was gone. I simply woke up one morning and like "wow, I don't feel that tightness anymore." I think your body is just fighting the new invasion in the body, but eventually it does accept it.

Bette

It did take almost 3 weeks to get back to normal for me. I went back to work in 3 weeks, and am glad I did not try to go back sooner.

I did not feel the band, but the port was bothersome for some time. It felt as though it did not belong there, and when I sneezed, it felt as though it wanted to pop out.

Now, I am going to the gym, and doing well with that. Been able to lift the heavy objects at work, and have enough stamina to get through that day. Hang in there!

Hey Guys

Thanks for all the replys. Today was my first day back to work, it went pretty good. I still have that burning feeling at the port site, but if i sit for a few it gos away. Im a hair stylist, so i have to stand. Im so happy, i started on mushies today. I started 1 day early though, dont tell. For Breakfast i had some cream of wheat with skim milk to make it soupy.

For lunch some sugar free pudding, and for dinner mashed potatoes about 3/4 of a cup. They were all so delish, after the liquids. I ate very slow and everything has gone down great. Feels good to feel satisfied. If something is stuck do you know wright away? Did i eat too much for my first day on mushie?Hope everyone had a great day!

Eeek, got me a little worried. I'm hoping to return back to work after 3-4 days! I have an office job, so I won't have to walk around or anything.. and worst case scenerio I can do most of it from home.. but I have already told my employer I only plan on taking a week at most off. :x

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
