Tips On Alcohol...

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery on October 21st. I am just over 3 weeks out. I am not planning on drinking anything until 8 weeks out and that would be ocasionaly/socially but I just want to know what peoples tolerances are? During my pre op class they say u get drunk off of A LOT less alcohol and need to be careful. So I'd like to see about how much people are drinking before you become tipsy?

I'm five weeks out. Drank a glass of wine. Took hour and a half. Wasn't tipsy at all. Just took a while to drink it.

At about 8 weeks, I mixed a shot of Tequila in my Crystal Light lemonade - I almost instantly got a warm fuzzy feeling. :-) I am normally a "two beers and I'm drunk" person, but now, it only takes 1.

It's been a year on nov 7. One glass of wine gets me tipsy now. Before the sleeve, it would take 3 glasses. I also Tried a shot of tequila once & was soooo done, I had a bad dream. Same thing happened when I tried drinking Hennessy with lemon. I just can't do the strong stuff anymore & I'm ok with that.

So it isn't so dangerous to have a little alcohol so early out? Weeks, etc..? I know it's bad for the diet we are on, but can it actually hurt you? Anyone?

I love wine and have pretty extensive wine collection.

That is gathering dust.

My program is "no ETOH for 6 months". And I agreed. For the following reasons:

  • Alcohol is not great for the recovering stomach
  • Alcohol's empty calories
  • Being tipsy empowers your Fat Brain to have a little of this and a little of that and ...
  • Real possibility of 'addition transfer' from food to drink
  • my Program told me to... (sigh, I do drink caffine)

I will have wine again (soon), but I expect them two bottle nights be OVER!!! And yes, my lovely wife DOES still have wine in front of me. No biggie...

Thank goodness my program allows caffeine. I love my cup of coffee in the morning.

Almost 4 weeks out. Haven't had wine. Have a cousin's wedding coming up next week. I will ask the surgeon about drinking the toast when I see him this week (because this part isn't spelled out in my binder) but if he says no, that's it.

Surrender, Dorothy.

I drank at 6 weeks out and was fine. The first time I drank it hit me hard. We went on a mini vacation last weekend (9.5 weeks post op) and I had 2 mixed drinks and sipped my husbands drink a little over the course of 4 hours. I felt a little tipsy, but not hammered or anything like that.

I have been sober 4 years now so I dont drink but I would think that alcohol would lead to bad choices of food and Snacks.

you dont want to binge eat after having the surgery.

just my 2 cents

I was told I had to wait a year before having alcohol. Im 3 weeks out, and I don't think my stomach could tolerate it. Having trouble with the Vitamins, so Im thinking I should wait till I can at least get those down. I love my wine, and have quite a few bottles, but Im waiting for the right time. Im concentrating on getting thin and healthy, Ill have my wine later.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
