Frustrated With The Wait!

Recommended Posts

Finally finished my 6 month diet, and now the dietitian is dragging her feet in sending in the records to my surgeon. My surgeon says this is the last thing they need before submitting to insurance. BCBS of Alabama is telling me that it is taking about 30 days to get an approval, and my surgeon says that they are all scheduled up for November and December. AUGGHHHHH!

I want to just go out and eat myself silly!

Rena, I can so totally relate to your post. I had no idea how long it would take to go through this process. I started trying to get an appointment back in September and then got an appointment for the seminar in October. My first appointment with the Dr was Oct 31st and here it is November 18th. I just got paperwork in the mail to complete for surgery. I had already completed about 10 pages at the previous visit so I am not sure why all the duplication. I have met with the nutritionist one time and I guess I am on my own for the 3 month pre op diet. I was hoping they would schedule me for all of my pre op tests this month or in Dec since my deductible has already been met. But so far..nothing. I guess I'll be scheduled for those in January and it will cost me more money out of pocket since the insurance companies are decreasing benefits and upping the costs. Jeeeeez, it is so frustrating. Good luck to you.

This is dang frustrating and thanks for your honesty when you say:

"I want to just go out and eat myself silly!"

This is from your evil fat brain. My evil fat brain has a name... "Skippy". He is VERY sneaky and he never takes a nap, he never sleeps and he ALWAYS wants me to eat... AND I am 5+ months after the sleeve.

SO you have learned that YOU have a fat brain too. And for the rest of your life you will "do battle" with your fat brain to lose the weight and keep it off!

Oh yeah....I have an evil fat brain. He won out tonight, and ate pizza. Not just one slice either, but the whole thing. Granted, it was a small, thin crust, veggie pizza (Tombstone), but I couldn't just stop at one slice...nooooo. I'm gonna give my evil fat brain a name, and see if that helps me defeat him.

Any thoughts for a name?

Yessssss... Somehow the name Regina (that bitch) comes to mind... I will admit I really don't know why.

"Skippy" is the name that is given (in our family) to the person who does ALL the unclaimed and unadmitted to bad things...

LOL....I have a good friend with that name, so that won't work! There was one person who made my life miserable at one point. Her name is Dolores. Maybe I'll use that one....

Found out today that my insurance denied me. Not totally unexpected, as BCBS of AL routinely does this. Now I have to get all my appeal ducks in a row to resubmit. I was so hoping to get this surgery by the middle of December, but it might not happen.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
