My insurance requires six months of seeing nutrition dietician for six months within last two years, psych appt, another pre op nutrition class! My surgeon wanted a cardiac clearance and an egd on my stomach! I think each dr is different and insurance companies require different things to approve you! I hope this helps ????

I just started the whole process... The first thing I did was google which hospital in my city did the bariatric surgeries... Then I had to attend one of their seminars (you can't see a surgeon before u attend a seminar they do take attendance)... After I seen the surgeon he gave me a check off list... I need a sleep test done.. Upper endoscopy... Gallbladder ultrasound.. Psychiatry evaluation...and my insurance require me to see a dietary consultation 4 times (once a month)... I'm praying for a late January date or maybe early Feb.. Good luck to u and your journey!

Good Luck too all of you. The worst thing you could do is stress the checkoff list. I am wondering, if you were also assigned a patient advocate? If so, stay on their butt...thats what their job is. I had many, and I mean many medical issues before my surgery. But, I was able too get all of my preop tests scheduled for the same day. I was there for the majority of the day, but I knew it was all taken care of. If you go to a pcp or specialist each month, most insurances will use your weigh in from these dr visits. They just need to be 3 weigh in in past yr...some require 6 months weigh in. Call now to make appt with psychiatrist b/c they are usually 2 or 3 months behind unless you have your own. As you finish tests, keep copies for your own records. The nutritional classes are awesome. They teach you so much. Take notes, and ask questions. Im 2 months post op and 80 lbs lighter. It took me exactly 6 weeks from Seminar to surgery...feel free too ask anything.xoxo

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
