this morning I had about .5 oz of chicken breast before I went to work 930. I started feeling full and quit eating. I threw up twice while at work at 11. Went home and drank some fluids and now I've thrown up just the fluids, twice so far and it is now 1222. I'm about 5 weeks out. I chewed it up good. I have severe burpies going on. Should I be concerned?

Hi! Well I've had the rather misfortune to not be able to tolerate chicken. I actually have quiet an aversion to it after being sick from it several times. My nutritionist had told me to take a break and try dark piece as they would be the more moist part and maybe could tolerate it well. I had tried chicken prob about 4 times and had the same reaction no matter how well I thought I chewed. I've just concluded I can't tolerate chicken. We all have different little things that change after surgery. I can handle the very finely shredded pieces but that's about all I've had the nerve to try. I'm 6 mo post op. Good luck.

I can't handle a chicken breast either unless I grind it up first in the food processor. I take the chicken and shred it, add a can of mushroom Soup and rotel tomatoes. Cook together on top of the stove add pepper to taste.

Surgery date 9/4/2013 HW 269 RYN 238, this week 203

Did you drink 30 minutes before and/or after eating the chicken? To be safe give your surgeons office a call.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
