I am not sure if vitamelts would be enough B-12, but then again I don't know how much they (Doctor or Nutritionist) said you would need. My WLS center said 5000mcg a week. Either we could do 2500mcg twice a week or 5000mcg once a week.

I second the Spring Valley ones. they are very pleasant tasting and cheaper than the vitamelts.

In the future you may need to change the calcium chews. Most chews are made with Calcium bicarbonate which is less absorbable. After RNY they recommend taking a calcium citrate because its absorbed better by the body. Also my Dr. makes me take an extra Iron supplant of 29g they come in chewable form as well

I would highly recommend getting Bariatric grade Vitamins made specifically for post op patients. They are very different from one you can pick up at the store. We DO NOT and will never absorb all the actual Vitamin levels in anything other then Bariatric specific ones. Especially Calcium and Vit D. The calcium has to be calcium citrate with Vit D in it. The Bariatric vitamins come in chewables, liquids, chews and sublingual. Lots of flavors and choices. Check out bariatricadvantage.com and please research the info I just gave you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
