Help! My surgery date is Nov 11. I am trying to get all things in order and am wondering how people have handled thyroid meds after surgery. It is a medicine that has to be taken on an empty stomach. I am planning on crushing it an and adding to Water and just sip, sip, sip. No idea if this will work. Any thoughts from others?

I crush mine and swallow it with a few sips of Water. I have to admit I probably do it wrong and take it with Vitamins, etc. But I'm going to wait until my bloodwork in a month or so to see if it's working well. It's easier for me to do it at once, and frankly, if putting all of them together helps me take my Vitamins, that is what I'll do.

You may not be able to manage it for the first few days after surgery. I didn't. You will want to ask your doctor, but mine basically said, "Just start as soon as you can."

I've been taking mine since I was in the hospital, whole. Was never hard or got stuck.

No worries, you won't have to do anything strange to get it down. Also, just an idea of what I was up against..I had a sleeve that was swollen shut too for the first day. Still managed to get the whole thyroid pill down starting on day 2.

You'll be fine!

I also kept taking mine the whole time I was in the hospital (except for the day of surgery). It's such a small pill that it went down without any problems. I never had to crush any of my pills - I just cut them in two and was able to get them down - good luck to you!! You will figure out what works best for you.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
