4 months out and I ate the whole can!

Both my son and I love the homemade Soups I make more than most dinners we have. I make veggie Soup with a small amount of meat from a shin bone, split pea soup with a ham bone, minestrone with ground beef, potato soup with bacon and cheese, and so on. I hope I can continue to eat these soups once I am sleeved?

I think some yes, some no at least at first. Potato soup might be good during full liquids but not for weight loss if you're counting carbs. Pea soup would be great, will have to watch portions shouldnt be hard. Minestrone, you will likely make without Pasta for a while. You may choose to omit the meat in some or eat it first and then eat the rest of the soup veggies and drink the broth later so you're not eating and drinking at the same time. Just have to be creative.

Problem is, at first you're working hard to get in all the Protein and the sleeve doesn't hold much. So it's hard to eat veggies and carbs at first. Later, as the swelling goes down, it get easier.

I love love love veggies but even at 3 months, a lot of times I have no room for ANY veggies all day if I hope to make my Protein requirements. I know it's temporary but it seems wrong to not eat veggies!

I'm making chicken and mushroom soup this weekend, pureeing it and drinking it instead of a shake. I figure that cares care of the "is it liquid or is it solid?" question :)

Chili was one of the things that was on my list in an early stage. I believe that is because it is not that dense as someone earlier said.. I would put this in the slider category and make sure if you eat it in the future you measure.. I normally open a can and then break it down into 4-6 ozs bowls and freeze it.. Then just grab it for lunch occasionally.

Good idea! Thanks!

I find if I eat anything with Beans it fills me up super fast.

But I measure everything if its serving size is in cup form I use measuring cups if its in pieces I count pieces and if its in oz. I weigh it on a food scale.

I eat what I measure out and it's quite typical for me to leave a bite or two on my plate..

I haven't found a slider food yet.. Which I ain't mad at! I get full on everything so far and I'm ok with that.

Honestly tho measuring it out seems to be the best way for me.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
