I know your stomach itches because of the healing, but I'm itching everywhere! I haven't taking any pain med or any kind of pill in a little over a week, and I haven't switched to anything new. I was just wandering if anyone else has had this happen? It's so bad sometimes even the inside of my mouth itches! It's driving me crazy!!!

I am 3 weeks post op, down 30 pounds!

Maybe you should call your doctor. It sounds like a allergic reaction. Let me know how it's going. Hope it stops soon =)

I itched for the first two months! It was horrible I wanted to rip my skin off! My doc said it was normal so I took Benadryl, it helped a little. After the second month it went away.

I am 5 wks post op and still itch. I still have bandages. My incisions have been slow to heal so bw the healing and sensitivity to bandage tape, I itch a lot.

I had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia and it was uncontrolled itching. I also got a rash from head to toe (every one of my pores were red). My surgeon also thought it could be a reaction to the sulfer in the morphine they give you during and post op.it went away after a couple weeks but it was incredibly annoying! I had the same reaction after having my gallbladder out, so thats why they figures anesthesia. Unfortunately benadryl is all u can do :(

I hate that y'all are going through this, but am relieved to know I'm not the only one. I am allergic to sulfur drugs and told them that but I still got morphine, do you think it would take it 2-3 weeks to affect?

It does. I didnt start having the itching and stuff until maybe 3 weeks out. I went for my stiches checked and the rash was still getting worse. I think that was at 4 weeks. And with the gallbladder, which happened 4 months after, happened faster and much worse because I was already exposed to it. It was so annoying but nothing they could do to make it speed up :(

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
