Why do OhYeah! protein bars have to be so effing delicious

Recommended Posts

At first I felt like the clever girl, eating an OhYeah! Protein Bar in caramel peanut something or other. Only to discover that each bar has like, 30g carbs!!!! I should have known, it was just too delicious  it put my Quest bars to shame.

How many calories? They sound dangerous, but I'm thinking about taking a walk on the wild side ;) Where do you get them?

not trying to burst anyones bubble but be careful with some of the ohyeah bars. Some of the flavors are not that great for you. here a article I read the other day about some Protein bars that are just as bad a candy bars.

I stick with Quest Bars they are awesome. http://www.mnn.com/food/healthy-eating/stories/7-nutrition-bars-that-are-worse-than-candy

I eat Oh Yeah bars almost daily and they are filling and delicious, most having 15-20 grams of Protein and are around 180 calories. The one mentioned is a double sized bar so make sure you are consuming the grab and go size.. They do taste more like candy than Protein Bars, but they are the only ones I can tolerate and I've done really well with them.

Quest bars make me want to hurl, unfortunately.

Pure Protein Bars for me and wifey. 16g carbs, 2g sugars, 200 calories, 20 g Protein. I like the chocolate Peanut Butter but the peanut butter surprise is our favorite when we can find them. They have a creamy caramel center that suits me down to my shoes.

I understand! Though I haven't tried the Oh Yeah bars, I have one Quest bar a day. I love them and look forward to having mine. I stick to the one because they're 1/4 of my daily caloric intake at this point.

I was convinced to buy Smart For Life Protein bars by my daughter who is a foodie, nut for the good, pure and best bang for your buck girl......I am none of that...LOL

Smart For Life bars have 190 calories

20 g of Protein

7 % carbs

7% sodium

All natural no artificial sweeteners...

Just started using them as a lunch when I am too busy or on the run....Can't eat a full bar...Can only eat 3/4.. very satisfying and got the crunch..

Never like to write down what I eat because it opens you up to criticism...But anyway...that is the 1 and only Protein Bar I eat...

My wife (fellow VSG) loves them oh yeah bars. Good high Protein. If it helps her meet daily protein goals, no one is standing in her way on eating them. She just had me slep off to Vitamin Shoppe to pick up a new box yesterday. They do look good, but carbs are too high for my taste. If I am going to have a high protein bar like this, it would have 1-3 g net carb max. I think if you can have the control to just eat one oh yeah a day, it should be fine. I just got some cookie dough Quest bars for myself yesterday (a concert from pure protein bars). I am not sure how often I will be eating them, maybe once a week or less. I hope they have a long shelf life!! Per above post, I only WISH a protein bar filled me up. Alas, I can eat 2-3 of these and, consequently, they have been demoted in my diet to emergency only. They sssssllliiidddeee right on through. I envy the people who get full on a protein bar.

I eat 2-3 of the Quest bars a day and they fill me up. I eat them slow. The cookie dough ones I put in the microwave for 15 sec and eat it slow with a fork. I am only 9 months post op so this might change later with them not filling me up but right now it works. I eat 5-6 times a day and get about 130g of protein in a day.

Me three. I eat one a day when I'm traveling but they do not fill me up. The pure Protein ones do. I had to quit oh yeah. Too much like a snickers bar and started cravings for me.

Me too. I tried a Quest bar around 4 weeks post op. Ate half, like I have read many people do, I was never satisfied and really hungry within 30 minutes. The next time I tried a whole one and experienced the same thing. They are an emergency back up, no other option and rarely rarely happen.

I usually eat one oh yeah bar a day with a mini Bon cheese as my lunch. Gets me over my 20 grams of Protein per meal requirement and are filling. I have it cheese to cut the sweetness which I don't want. I never have more than 1 a day unless I miss a meal and then I use it a such. I like the great flavors and my wife eats them as well when her day is crazy.

Have you tried the Oh Yeah! Victory bar? It has a lot less net carbs and actually fills me up. I can only eat 1/2 a bar at a time. The other Oh Yeah! bars are sinful!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
