1 month post op...what is everyone eating and how much?

Recommended Posts

Hi! Had surgery on 9/17. Just curious what and how much people are eating. I find that yogurt does down..no problems. When I eat solid food, I get a "full" feeling after a couple of small bites (not even an ounce) but I eat more because I wouldnt be getting anywhere near the 65 g. of Protein. The feeling doesn't get worse until I eat a couple of ounces (volume not weight) and I know it is time to stop. Does anyone get that "full" feeling after a 2 or 3 bites of food, that stays that way until you eat a couple of ounces? Does that go away?

I was sleeved on 9/9 so I'm about 5.5 weeks out. I'm also good with yogurt but solid food still does not feel great to eat. I haven't been getting enough Protein either, which is something I need to work on. I have found that I can eat a bit more of chicken (as opposed to a bite or two) when it is super moist as opposed to grilled. Also...beans have a reasonable amount of protein and those do not give me the same stomach-choking feeling as most meat does.

it depends on what is eaten. i can eat one scrambled and and feel pretty good. i've had chili, tuna salad and very over cooked vegetables. chicken has to be moist. if meat is dry i can barely eat any of it. i haven't tried anything like Pasta, mash potatoes, rice or crackers. i've read alot of people have problems with carbs feeling them up real quickly. i had surgery on 9/24

My surgery was 9/23 and I just began pureed foods this week. Refried Beans, chicken, cottage cheese with a scoop of vanilla Protein Powder (tastes like cheesecake) and homemade applesauce have all worked well. The problem is, I lost 20 pounds pretty quickly and have been stalled since October 10th. I was hoping the switch to pureed foods might help get the scale moving but no such luck. I know I am getting enough Protein but maybe too many carbs?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
