The Pool at the Marriott in TJ

Recommended Posts

Is it indoors or outdoors?

Anyone know what the weather is like there towards the end of this month?

I was planning on bringing a bathing suit and spending some time in the pool the night before surgery. Is that realistic at this time of year? (In 13 days)

I would disagree with that statement! I had my sleeve last year, on Nov 3rd, The pool is outside, and while it wasn't 'cold', it wasn't sunshine and butterflies either. I'd say it was high 60's, low 70's. I'm from Arizona, so for me, this was not 'summer swimming weather'. Also, it is much colder at night than say the midwestern US. The pool is not heated, although they had a jacuzzi, when I was there, the jacuzzi Water was not calibrated correctly, and needed chlorine. I did not see anyone sunning or swimming while I was there. Take your suit, it won't take up much space in your bag. If it's tolerable for you, go for it! Good luck and congrats on becoming a Mexico sleever!!

Hi Italian, there are 3 hot tubs next to each other outside also. The pool is nice if you hit a warm day, but we mostly hung out in the hot tubs.

I just got back from TJ yesterday (traveling with my son). It's been in the low 80s during the day. It was very nice. Supposed to be that way for at least the next 10 days.

I will be there Nov 1st too. I'll be fllying in on the 31st. If you're around, we can get in the hot tub together!

That sounded lesbian-like and dirty. I didn't mean it as either. LOL.

I've done so poor on my pre op diet... Had a recent death in the family (young person, tragic, unexpected) and have turned to my drug of choice-food. Part of me thinks "well, I should eat all of this stuff while I still can" but another part of me is like "if I could go on a 2-week diet of liquids, I wouldn't be in this position". I'm one week till surgery now and I'm trying hard to be disciplined. How about you? How are you doing??

Oh my gosh, Ringo, so sorry to hear about the tragedy.

I made a commitment to stick 100% to the pre op diet. I just don't want any complications or to get turned around and resceduled. It's not too late. You can get clean right now! If it were me (and u should check with your doc cuz I'm not a physician) but personally... I would take a laxative today and start cleansing my system of all the bad stuff. Then I would go on 2-3 days of Protein Shakes only (whatever amount of cals your doc ordered) mine is 900. Then I'd do the remaining days on pure liquid. Two ISOPURES will give u 80 grams of Protein with only 320 cals. Swansons makes some delicious flavored broths now...hot n sour, tortilla Soup and ginger chicken. I'm on 900 cals of shakes, lettuce and fish, chicken, eggor yogurt a day Til Tuesday when I go totally liquid. Have lost a pound a day on the pre op so I'm down 15 lbs now. C'mon girl, you got this!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
