Getting sleeved Oct 22nd and have some concerns.

Recommended Posts

I am being sleeved. onOct 22. I also had about with pulmonary embolism in January and am onWafarin. I regularly have my INR checked and am wondering if you had to do the lovanox shots after surgery for a while instead of the warfarin pills. My doctor is having a vascular specialist insert a screen to keep any clots formed from traveling. I am hoping for a successful surgery but kind of dread the shots again.

I got the IVC filter placed when I had my last embolism, so already covered there. I actually stop taking my warfarin (oral) today. On Friday I begin injections, twice a day for three days. Then post op I resume injections another 4 days AND resume oral warfarin. ( oral takes 3+ days to reach full effectiveness in our systems) I am not thrilled with doing the shots ( since I have to self administer) but....I will do it because I have to. I have done a lot to get this surgery I really didn't like, but it is all worth it in the long run!

I will know on Friday about when to stop. I just hope the lovanox shots are not longer than 3-4 days post op.

I have surgery at 11:30 on Monday. I am SO nervous. I love eating good yummy food. And I've been on my liquid diet since oct 9 th and although some days are easier than others. Sometimes I'm so hungry I will cry and get very upset at family around me. People say I won't be hungry after surgery but after starving for these past days I just can't believe that. Is anyone else worried that they won't be able to eat the things they love???

I am not concerned about that. I am scheduled for the 22nd at 10:00. My surgeon and NUT both emphasize that some foods might not taste the same but actually the bottom line is the sleeve can't stop us from eating most of what we love but is a tool to keep us from eating as much.

My biggest concern right now is allergies. I have some post nasal drip making my throat scratchy and I have a cough. I do not need full blown pneumonia post op! I really hope it doesn't effect surgery. I am so ready for Monday at 10am! Just hope I feel better before I feel worse!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
