I am not going to weigh myself again till next Tuesday. As I am still bloated and full of gas. Otherwise I think my recovery is going as it should be. My surgery was in the 8th. I'm struggling getting fluids and Protein. I'm not walking a whole lot because I'm feeling weak. But everyday is getting better. Only pain is from largest incision near my belly button. Sort of a muscle stretching pain but only when I get up or try to walk fast. I haven't had pain meds since leaving the hospital.

Went for 2 walks today a few blocks. Probably about 1 mike each walk. Maybe more. Walk. Walk and walk. I feel great but I have been able to get all my Protein in no problem. Energy level is great. Just gassy. I am going into work for 4 hours tomorrow. Wish me luck. I'm the boss so I need to take care of a few things. And sitting at home is driving me nuts. I need my normal routine

I'm 12 days post op and feel pretty horrible. I have terrible gas pains, feel weak, and struggle to get my Protein in. My doctor has me on Clear Liquids for 3 weeks post op and I just can't stand the clear liquid Protein Drinks. On the bright side I've lost 25 lbs. But its hard to be happy about that when I feel so terrible. I just keep wondering "when does it start to get better?".

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
