Anyone else 3 weeks out ?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 9/24 and I'm down 21 lbs (including 1 week pre-op.) I have not seen the scale budge too much this week. I honestly believe its because I am not eating enough. It's a huge struggle to get to 600 cal and to drink enough. If I get less than that or dont drink enough that scale does not move! The one day I got to 650 cal, I lost almost 2 lbs!

I would never have thought that eating enough would be a problem, but its still early. I am more focused on the changes going on. I am just trusting in the process. The way I see it, the only way for me to fail is to sabotage myself, and I have no intention of letting that happen.

Thanks for all the replies !! It looks like we are all pretty close with our weight loss and recovery but I feel like I'm the only one that is still on full liquids :( I'm soooo ready for some variety, I know I'm not getting in enough fluids or Protein but on the plus side I have never once missed my Vitamins which for me is a huge accomplishment. Keep up the good work everyone !!

I am 3 weeks out tomorrow and down 12 pounds. I am eating Protein shakes' date=' Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, applesauce ... I get to start eating real food this Wednesday after I see my nutritionist. My new stomach/sleeve feels fine, tolerating everything so far. I am still having pain in the abdominal muscles, though, which is frustrating. It is the central two incisions and only hurts if I bend at the waist. I haven't taken any pain medication since 5 days after surgery. I am looking forward to the muscles healing and being able to be more active without worrying about hurting myself.[/quote']

I am having almost the same experience. Those 2 incisions are driving me crazy. I feel fine and then I bend over or turn a certain way and then the pain strikes. I have lost 26 lbs since the start of the whole process. I can't wait to lose more.

Band07 looks like you and I are still on full liquids. I have to do it for another week. I am planning on calling my surgeon's office today since my scle hasn't moved. Maybe the NUT will give me some other ideas. If so, I will share.

I'll be three weeks tomorrow. I've only lost 10 pounds from my surgery day. I feel like I'm doing something wrong because I'm reading other numbers like 20-30 pounds lost already! I'm allowed pureed foods now and I'm trying to eat some pureed meats for Protein, but I find I'm still getting most of my Protein from shakes. food doesn't sit too well in my stomach yet.

I too am three weeks out and have only lost 10 lbs i think its just slower for some more than others

I will be 3 weeks out on Wednesday. I've lost 30 lbs. so far, but my scale hasn't moved any the last two days. I wish I could stop weighing every morning, to prevent getting discouraged. I'm doing soft foods, such as fish and eggs, and that's going down good. So far, I've not had any problems

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
