Hello. I am new to this site. My name is Helene and I had my lap band surgery on Dec 21, 2006. I have not really lost very much weight yet - somewhere around 15 pounds. I got my first fill two weeks ago, and i don't think it really did anything (have not lost anymore weight). I can still eat pretty much as i did pre-surgery. I am scheduled for a second fill the end of March and i am hoping this one will do the trick. I had my surgery at Barix Clinics in Langhorne by Dr. Brader. Is this common not to lose until the band is at the right adjustment?

Slowly but surely. Your not gaining I assume. A couple of things, one, be patient, and two, when you get your next adjustment you should notice a difference. Also, you gotta help by eating, (or not eating) the things you should. Don't get discouraged, everyone progresses at different rates.

If I, king of slackers can do it, so can you!

2 years post op.

totaly at goal!

210 pounds lost

Life is so good!

thanks for your words of encouargement. I do need to be patient, but it is hard. That is probably why i was not successful on other plans. It's still hard not to eat when i am at a party or an invited occasion. I am trying to exercise so i do not gain the little i lost so far.

Reading what others have written is really helping. I need to take the time to go through this website. There seem to be so many nice people out there, and that really helps as well.

I was banded on Feb.9th and recently started eating solid foods. It is tough because I feel that I can eat too much at one time. However, I am trying to stick with a healthy diet to continue to loose while waiting for my first fill. My fill is scheduled for April 14th and I have a week long vacation to Florida in two weeks. I know it will be a little bit of a struggle but I hope that I have formed some new better eating habits.

Sometimes I feel trapped in a fat persons body because the weight loss isn't instant.:phanvan However, I am seeing some changes when I look in the mirror. :clap2: That gives me hope and motivation. Hang in there and be strong. You can do it!!!!:D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
