My First Fill-Any Advise?

Heidi

Recommended Posts

Hi! I have my first fill on Saturday. I was banded on July 26th in the States, but I live overseas in Shanghai, China. I have to go to Hong Kong to get my fill from a doctor who is not very experienced with giving fills. He has had training, but I have to be honest that I am a little nervous. Any advise to help calm my nerves?

Heidi, Best of luck to you! I've had one fill, without fluro, no deadening shot. The Dr. got it first try. It hurt less than having blood drawn. I hope it will be this way every time. Just try to relax when you're lying there. You'll do fine!:D

Just don't encouarge him to put in too much at once. We never know how our bodies will react to even the smallest amount. Even though we want that ever elusive 'sweet spot', it's still better to creep up on it than to damage ourselves in the process.

Good luck with getting it 'just right'. :D

hi heidi...i have over 3cc's in my band and none of the fills ever hurt. at first i had to be poked more than once and it still never bothered me. but i would say you at least want 1cc to start. thats what we were given and a lot of girls said they never even felt the first one, but its a great start. you will do great !!! :D all my bander friends have done so well, its amazing....good luck & tell us how it all went....

Hi Heidi,

Im kinda like you, Id be a little nervous too if my fill doc wasnt very experienced.

Its kinda like getting on an airplane with a pilot that has navigated MANY flights compared to one that has only READ many flight books....

Im sure everything will be fine, but you are certianly normal to be scared! Like I said, I would be too!

:D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
