So I'm freaking out. I just got my preop bloodwork back and it turns out, I'm PREDIABETIC. I can't believe I let myself get to this point ....surgery on Monday thank goodness. Just needed to vent...

Well after Monday you will be "not diabetic". Sending prayers your way.

Thanks so much teekay and jerzygirl. I am so grateful that I'm getting this done....

Just got home from the hospital. Feeling a little pain, but not too bad. So far, this has not been as bad as I expected. Hopefully that will continue.

Glad to hear that it has gone well. All the best to you.

It's my Birthday!! I'll hopefully still be having surgery on Monday, but I wanted to wish all of the 12/12 sleevers a safe and successful surgery and a speedy recovery! I can't wait to hear how everyone's surgery went. I def can't wait to join all you sleeved wonders on that bench!! Sending my prayers up and out to everyone today! You guys are going to do A-MAZ-ING!!!

SoPeachy28:

Happy Birthday! I know its tough being on liquids on your birthday, but just think of how many birthdays you'll be adding to your life with your healthy body post op! We'll probably be in surgery with hours of each other. Good luck to you….just 3 more days!

Did anyone else get really bad headaches on their pre-op diet? I started on Monday and have had really bad headaches everyday... So bad that I had to take ibuprofen. I won't take any ibuprofen after tomorrow because I technically am not required to start my pre-op till Friday, but wanted to kind of ease myself into it and am glad I have... Days one and two were pretty hard, and now on day three, I'm not even hungry! The hardest part for me is getting under 40g of carbs per day... I never realized how many carbs were in everything!!! The "sugar-free" items still tend to have carbs, so it's pretty much just room for three Protein Shakes a day and a ton of Water for me...

Sns513:

Yes, I had the headaches and they couldn't have been from caffeine because I don't drink it regularly. I changed the Protein Shake I was drinking to another brand and the headaches went away. I don't know if it was the drink or that my body just got used to the change?

My doctor's pre-op plan is one week of a Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch (with special Protein Bars for snacks), and one lean meat and green vegetable (no carb veggies) a day. Then in the second week - which is where I am now, it is 5 shakes a day along with sugar free liquids. I've been hungrier this week.

Something else you might want to try is to add liquids that replace the electrolytes such as Propel or G2 Gator aid. I am also allowed broth and Tomato juice. Hang in there, it will get better!

Hello All....

My name is Belinda and I started this process in March 2013. Just got my call on Friday and my surgery date is December 26th at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda Maryland. Couldn't ask for a better Christmas gift and way to start out a new year.

I'm currently 5'2" weighing 205 lbs

I have High BP, diabetes, sleep apnea, high triglycerides and hope the surgery will resolve these issues.

Hi Belinda:

Glad you joined our group. What a great present to yourself - a new body for the new year. I too have sleep apnea, and high blood pressure - I hope we can both get rid of those issues in the new year!

Alright December Sleevers, I'm hoping that this title brings more people in so we can follow and encourage each other through our journeys. I am 40. I'm 5'4" and about 308 right now. I'd like to get to a healthy BMI which would be around 145. I'm hoping for a December 4th or 5th date with Dr. William Johnson. Everyone introduce yourselves! Secret Facebook page (no one can see that you belong to it or see your activity in the group). Click the link below and Vixey can add you to the Facebook group. https://www.facebook....are.u.dead.yet So far as of 11/02/13 [*]Dec 02 Krysta03 [*]Dec 02 gaslimgal [*]Dec 02 jess9395 [*]Dec 02 Annadette [*]Dec 02 sookie [*]Dec 02 Nurse_Bonnie [*]Dec 02 doopa [*]Dec 02 Jerzygurl [*]Dec 03 Tasha420 [*]Dec 03 SouthernCharm [*]Dec 03 redilla42 [*]Dec 03 skinnynewbecky2014 [*]Dec 03 Sinderelly [*]Dec 03 missmee [*]Dec 03 Browneyedgurl [*]Dec 04 L-in-NJ [*]Dec 04 Healthbound [*]Dec 04 Katdrox [*]Dec 05 Blondiee [*]Dec 05 Lioness813 [*]Dec 06 kyholder [*]Dec 06 harleychic [*]Dec 09 De-jo [*]Dec 09 AshleyMidwife [*]Dec 09 Sweettart702 [*]Dec 09 MShell [*]Dec 09 Carlotta [*]Dec 10 hopecomeswithtime [*]Dec 11 liciamarie [*]Dec 11 KaminaBlue [*]Dec 11 Only1likeme [*]Dec 11 soul2bleed [*]Dec 11 Volfan [*]Dec 11 dencob1 [*]Dec 11 MnWin [*]Dec 11 onedaycloser [*]Dec 11 Scraglycat [*]Dec 12 amills [*]Dec 12 kellymoon [*]Dec 12 honeylove [*]Dec 13 Mommie4 [*]Dec 13 amduc (and husband!) Me: Hey Siri, Is it raining outside? (for my morning walks with the dogs)
Siri: I don't think it's raining at the moment.
Wet Dogs: Then why are we wet? This damn Siri person is more stupid than we are.

I received my nutrition book and checklist today! I am so very excited (and a tad bit scared too) Each day this is becoming a reality!
I created a new blog post about how BRAVE we all are for doing this. Because I think we are! Most of us know the horrors of people calling us nasty names, saying we can't control ourselves, we are easy targets for people's verbal attacks! But I feel we are BRAVE because we are taking control over our lives and creating a new world of happiness.

Today I scheduled my mental evaluation and my nutritionist appointments. Yes, we are moving along quiet nice.  December 9th will be here before you know it.
I have informed my inner circle of family about the surgery and I will be keeping it in my CORE!

Well, it has been a while since I posted here, but my journey continues. As for breaking my stall, I was able to get down to 214 with the help of a friend via our Fitbit fitness trackers which has made me ecstatic! Since that has happened I was fortunate enough to have my insurance company approve a panniculectomy to remove the panniculus (THIS is the correct term, NOT pannus, see this reference: https://www.merriam-webster.com/medical/panniculus) that has been deviling me for years, even before I had bariatric surgery. It was to the point that it was hanging down far enough to cover my pubic area, covered half my thighs when I would sit, and also drooped between my legs which I could hardly manage to keep together when sitting. For any males that may read this, for a woman that is pretty uncivilized, not to mention, unladylike especially when wearing a dress or skirt - just looks slovenly to say the least. Despite the numerous skin issues I had the last couple of years, my health insurance insisted the procedure was cosmetic... 🤐 . I would guess no one that is saying so has been in the bariatric patient's shoes. The damn thing was just getting to be a self-esteem killer in addition to a medical nuisance requiring many visits to my primary care physician, and interfering with my mobility. Now, I realize there are folks with more egregious panniculus sag issues, but the fact that it interferes with mobility is an important consideration.
One thing I have to say is that this surgery is drastically different from any other I've had. Things occur that are deemed routine, expected even, after a panniculectomy that would be downright unacceptable after any other procedure. This plastic surgery experience is definitely a learning experience that is still unfolding as I key this entry. For one thing, the swelling is a story all it's own, I had no clue my abdomen could get so large, so quickly, without causing my skin to just split open - it's crazy! So far, I'm pleased to have been able to get this procedure despite may be perceived as drawbacks, just to get the pendulous adipose tissue demon off of my person. Here are a few links to information about this procedure for anyone considering it in the future:
https://www.yourbariatricsurgeryguide.com/panniculectomy/ https://www.healthline.com/health/panniculectomy https://www.yourplasticsurgeryguide.com/tummy-tuck/panniculectomy/ https://www.plasticsurgery.org/reconstructive-procedures/panniculectomy/safety https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK499822/ I hope you find this information helpful. I will provide updates periodically on my progress of this surgical recovery. Have a wonderful day!
