6 Month supervised requirement

Recommended Posts

I am entering month number 5 of my 6 months , my last appointment is scheduled for Nov 8. Has anyone had to lose a certain amount of weight in the 6 months, I am suppose to lose 9 pounds. Has any had to do this prior to being sleeved and not make the amount you were suppose to lose but still get approved by insurance. I am worried that I will not get approved because of this.

I just left my 6month appt. today and for me I didn't have a certain amount to lose, in fact my insurance criteria states that the supervised diet Must Fail (go figure).

My surgeon does want me to lose weight but he didn't specify how much. I'll know more when I see the nutritionist tomorrow.

I was not required to lose during my 6 months but I was encouraged to lose weight or at the very least, maintain my initial weight. They did not want to see a gain. I ended up losing 21lbs during my 6 months. Is losing the 9lbs required by your surgeon or the insurance company? If you have a 2 week pre-op diet you most likely will lose those 9lbs and even more. If it is required for the insurance submittal, I would do my best to lost them. It is definitely possible to lose that much in a month if you really put in the effort. Good luck to you!

I can't remember if its required by the insurance, I lose it but then gain it back . Last month I had went from 220to 215 but I went for my caridologist clearance yesterday and was back to 220. I was doing good until I had to stop working out cause I lost a toenail and shoes were hurting. I have all the clearance approvals for surgery and its scheduled for Nov18th , they scheduled it but still not approved of course.

I'm month 5 as well, my last appointment is nov 26th and I'm required to lose 20lbs and I've already lost that and a bit. Here they don't let you go to the pre op nut classes at the end if you haven't lost enough weight and they won't schedule if you haven't lost all the weight

October 28th will be my 6 month visit. My surgeon did request foe me to lose 10 pounds by the end of the month. I am a big rice eater and i can't believe i stoped for one week so far. My biggest thing now is the juice, lord know i love juice. And using my treadmill a little also.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
