Hey guys,

Need a little advice. I am day 5 post op ( full liquids) & am waiting for the "other shoe" to drop. Like its just too good to be true.

Please know I'm not bragging I'm seriously worried that somethings wrong.

I haven't thrown up- not once. Haven't felt nautious, haven't had gurgling, or pain when drinking. No problems with "surgical gas". I can do my Protein shakes but I don't want them. ( I want glorious creamed soups). I can drink Water. I can fart. Etc... I don't have that feel it go down issue.

I feel like did they even do the sleeve? I have pain at incision sites but thats it.

I am worried bc I was ready to have all those problems & bc I have none of them I feel like maybe they made me too big on the inside?

Anyone else feel no difference on the inside post op?

allons-y

I had the same experience, surgery was a breeze and I went back to work after only 3 days off. I'm 2 weeks 4 days today and I still feel great except I am sick to death of creamy Soups and I want real food !!!! Unfortunately I have a week and a half of liquids left then on to 4 weeks of mushy and 4 weeks of soft. I say just be thankful and enjoy it :)

That's the only thing that made me believe I actually had the surgery. I have lost 90 lbs in almost 7 months . Enjoy the ride!!

I feel the same way!! It's amazing. Just a little gas here and there, but I think this is how you should feel! Just take it as a blessing and be thankful. I would not try to find the negative in things, look ahead to the positives. Keep to the diet the doctor ordered and you'll be on your way soon enough. I'm 6 days post op and I keep looking forward to the great life ahead of me!

Be very thankful. I had a horrible recovery (lots of pain, gas, medication snafu on day 5 - had to go to the ER cuz of bad reaction - apin upon drinking anything too cold or too hot, etc).

Ur 1 lucky girl. Count ur lucky stars and keep on drinking!

I think you have to remember that people who have issues are the ones who post about them. Those who had a vanilla recovery, really don't make the post such as yours. It's like product reviews.

Hey, I bought this knife and it cut a Tomato just like it was supposed to!

Nope, you hear from the people who had problems:

Hey, I bought this knife and it won't even cut a tomato. Then when I tried to wash it, it fell apart! What did I do wrong?! I knew this knife would be a failure!

I'm actually glad that she posted how great her surgery has been so far....my surgery is tomorrow and reading other people post has really freaked me out so it's great to hear things like this!!!!

Most people have great surgeries. Mine was a breeze and I had no issues what so ever. Like P man said... Most people who post are the ones complaining, but there are just as many if not more who are like us and breeze right through it.

Mine was extremely simple and I kind of feel bad about posting because of the unfortunate some who have a awful time.

My surgery was in Vegas ... outpatient. In at 7:00 am, back at the Golden Nugget by noon. Took a 4 hour nap and then out and about for a walk. Went to a nice restaurant with my wife (nothing for me, thanks, my stomach is a little restless), then played blackjack for about an hour. Back to the room about 9:30 and slept great. Next day, walked no less than 5 miles out and about Vegas. Laid out at the pool (with a towel over my belly area) and read. Took a nap.

I agree with Ms. I believe the majority of folks fly right though this procedure. As the OP pointed out, because of the folks having issues, you hate to post these easy-breezy stories because you may come off as bragging or some other negative interpretation.

The best thing to do is to look at how much you're able to eat/drink before you feel full. My guess is that it's not even close to where it was before!! :-)

You are truly blessed - and there are several people that have had similar experiences!

I had a very smooth recovery too. No vomiting, nausea or major pain. I was so prepared for so much worse and thrilled when it didn't happen!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
